With the family medical crisis ongoing for the past year, Wendy and I have been homeless, lived in rooms and garages as well as construction sites. We've had all our belongings packed away including my camera gear. Two weeks ago we came back to our town and yesterday I decided to take a trip down to the local airpark.....surprise.....I shot two notables and thought someone here might just like a look at our dreary fall days that are going to be here for the next few months .....on with the stuff.....one is easy to ID, the other I had to verify with my good friend Hal, whom I bumped into on the field......

Hi Ken... Smiley
I am pretty sure the low wing is a Navion H but as for the high wing red aircraft I am not sure what that is... Shocked     Roll Eyes      Lips Sealed

But did you know the Nav before you went to that ID page, Doug....I suspected it was from that family but had to ask someone who had already checked the plate on the airframe....the red one shall remain a mystery to us all....    Wink

Good morning Ken... Smiley

Yes the Navion was no problem.

There was one at Kingcity, it had the sliding canopy.

Two were at Buttonville, both different.

One or two at the Island Airport, believe they were both different also.

I only flew in a Navion once, forget the make now but it had the sliding canopy.

The aircraft always looked heavy to me, something like the Harvard.

To keep this short the owner of the one I flew in called his a poor mans P51 Mustang... Wink

I believe my father told me the Navion was designed to keep the World War Two discharged pilots especially the fighter pilots interested in General Aviation which had been overshadowed by the war.

G'day Doug....in your travels, I'm sure that you've heard of the Fraser Blues but if not, this link will provide info to to you and anyone else who wants to see a west coast endeavor by some well qualified pilots, many of whom, did military service and have been flying for eons...

Good morning Ken... Smiley

Wonderful Link Ken...much appreciated.

We almost bought a Navion once but I could not justify the price and what I would get for it a year or so down the road.

I am sure there are still a few in this area... Smiley

Like Wade "Crossfire" I have seen the Fraser Blues many many times...wonderful team... Wink

Wade, if you read this, anything on skis out your way you can post some shots of?

I need to do my snow dance as we can still cut the grass here... Grin

Thanks for that info and kind comments Jared.....Wendys son is doing better, but the long term prognosis is not very endearing, although from where he was about 10 months ago and at that time having only the ability to blink, we see his upper body movements showing promise...On the beaver issue, I think I shot this vehicle about 3-4 yrs ago on normal gear and not these overgrown tundra tire donuts ....will have to take out an old machine and see which hard drive has the images....
