Hi all!

I was recently flying an approach to SBRJ, runway 20L, using the PMDG 737-800. All went well and I think that to the extent that this can be said in a flight simulation, I had a perfect approach set - exactly at the REF speed, all configured to land, on the glideslope, and everything. When, all of a sudden, when the plane called "50", and I was just about to cross the runway threshold, FSX displayed the "CRASH" message in its top green notification bar, as if I had slammed the plane onto the ground. And I hadn't. I chose the external view to see whether I did hit some obstacle but it was a negative. And, after some seconds seeing the plane paused 50 feet above the ground, the image suddenly changed to show my plane half-buried at the runway start - just like that. And this of course ended a nice flight I was having with a big WHAT THE....!!???!!

I know this is software and software can sometimes glitch. My question is though, have any of you experienced this, maybe in a regular basis? Is this a known FSX issue that only I am not aware of yet?  Smiley BTW, this was the first time it happened to me with FSX.

Thanks!!!!

Yes, it sometimes happens. Did it happen on a default airport or an add-on?

I believe that sometimes FSX (FS9 did it too) believes you hit a building or a tree. Which isn't there. It's known and there is little you can do about it. You could try changing the scenery for another one. Maybe that will help. Or turn off crash detection...

Thanks, Carlo. I was using the default SBRJ scenery. Guess I'll try to turn off collision detection and see how that affects the "immersion" factor of the simulator. If not too much, I may keep it on.

Thanks!!!

It's the same story with KSFO from Flightbeam. As soon as you get within a few feet off the ground, CRASH. I've just set my crashes to "ignore" now, since the only times when I crash seem to be due to glitches like these. Smiley
