Good afternoon all... Smiley

The first day of Autumn/Fall and it is raining, windy, damp and cool.
There are whitecaps on the river and lake.

The trees are showing their wonderful colours and there are still lots of folks out in their boats fishing or just admiring the Fall colours along the waterways.

At a Bridge Game last night someone asked around the table if any of us had done foolish or silly things and while most of us are past the seven decade mark by more than half there were some interesting stories.

Now me, no, I just can't think of anything at the moment I might have done that might seem foolish or silly.

Now the old girl did bring up a few things, but really, me foolish or silly...naw... Roll Eyes       Lips Sealed

Well this being an aviation forum and me somewhat of an aviator, well....Old Retired Rocking Chair Flying Geezer and having bought, sold and flew many types over the years, there were a couple of things I did do to strictly show my interest in aviation.

(1)  Our two holer, outhouse, outdoor toilet for you city
slickers I painted red and black.
I stuck a huge broom stick on the back with the
sweeping part of the broom overhanging the door.

In yellow letters I painted on the front the mother-in
      laws name.

I had two little stubby wings on the sides and a
      rudder on the back.

It sat down by the hanger and away from the road... Grin

(2)  When the children were small and I was leaving home
for a flight I would tell the children I was off to see one
      of my other lovers.
Lovers being the aircraft of course.... Smiley

One day at school one of our girls (takes after the old
girl) was asked what her parents did for a living.

She told the class I was always away seeing my lovers.

Now keep in mind these were three or four room school
houses with two or three grades to a room so everyone
      knew each other...

The old girl got the call from the school and well, was
      not amused.... Grin

(3)  I would name my/our aircraft, boat and land vehicles
after the old girls sisters who several lived in Boston
Massachusetts, Salem Massachusetts "City of Witches"
       and here in Canada.
I would also use my own sisters names.

None of them seemed to appreciate my tribute to
       them... Shocked

(4)   If I was home and not flying somewhere, after the
children got back from their Halloween Outing with
loads of candy I would dress up and visit the
neighbours or the local watering hole... Grin

Most never figured out who I was.... Grin     Shocked      Lips Sealed

Now really, I just can not think of anything foolish or silly I ever did.... Shocked     Smiley

Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug

Well told, Trucker. Hmmmm.  My list is long and embarrassing so picking just one will be difficult.  Suffice it to say I regularly put my foot in my mouth.

Grin nice ones Doug!

A good many of mine deal with fire, small game creatures, and some other activities I am not comfortable putting on the internet  Grin

Word of advice....never stack rail-road ties in a teepee with a few wood doors during a dry spell....can you say 40ft+tall fire in a town??  Grin I swear our 'little' midnight torch light up half of the town!
