Hi lads

I bought FSX Gold Edition and would like to know what I should do with regards to updating the game to get it runing smoothly. Is there any software I should be aware of that makes the game more enjoyable?

So far I have maxed out the graphics to the best of my ability and it looks ok but, obviously it's a very old game.

I often lose the sound so have to restart the game and during the Learning Centre missions often the game will screw up and I have to restart the mission.
There is a contradiction between what Rod says and what he wants me to do which is very annoying during the Part 2 lessons on VOR and ATC lessons. I feel completely lost 'up there' and clueless about where i'm going and the cockpit is just a nightmare of controls, dials and radio systems lol

eeeeeeeek!!

Any advice would be greatly received as I really want to be able to take off in a jetliner, know how to get from A to B and land using ATC and VOR etc

Sp1 and 2 are included with Acceleration though so as far as I know, the game is fully up to date and there are no patches for Acceleration. I have Gold which is 3 dvd's. 2 for FSX and 1 for Acceleration.

Specs:
AMD x6 1090t
8gb RAM 1600mhz
AMD 5770 GPU

He shure has the  latest version, since Gold is with Acceleration.

Gards:
The most important thing against stutter is disk defragmentation. I use ultimate defrag 4 and fast disks, a SATA 3 RAID and even get stutters. A good tool I use myself is FSX Booster. The free variant is Bojotes optimazation site here. http://www.venetubo.com/fsx.html
But the more addons you get, the stutter will always come back even with the fastest machine, since FSX always opens and reads all the files registered in scenery.cfg and all of your installed aircraft, even if your on the other side of  the world it will read scenery files from the opposite. So the best performance you get with a virgin installation and optimized disk.

I used that "bojotes" advisor tool

Where does the cfg file go? in the main directory or sub folder?

Hi
if on win 7 you'll find the fsx.cfg file in C:\Users\YOURUSERNANE\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX.

If XP it's similar location, mydocuments is good starting point, the bit after roaming above is the same on xp.

May the Mynd be with you.
So far my number of landings either passenger or pilot equal my number of takeoffs, but that is due to change Smiley
