I stood in my garage surveying what lay in front of my yesterday and though, "what have I got myself into". Well, that was not quite what I thought, as I have missed a few words out as this is a family forum
So I retired to my sofa with a large Jack Daniel's and reassessed the situation, told myself to stop being a girl and get on with it. After all, you cannot do this in a weekend and can only work on one part at a time.
So below is what you would find in my workshop (former garage) if you dropped by.............
No real stumbling blocks as of yet. One small hiccup for today, how to gently break the news to my darling wife that when she does the accounts at the end of the month, there will be a bill for the front suspension rebuild. A parts bill of £200..........But that did include postage

A 1977 MGB roadster...........now imagine that I replied in a very high pitched voice......I was busted Ozzy, but only had one removed. She took it better than I thought

You got off lightly. So when do you get off KP? This decade or the next?

I keep looking at all those gaping rust holes in the bodywork structure, Mat!.
I was lucky with my 1931 Riley 9 rebuild, it had a complete "Lorry-type" girder chassis, to which the body was bolted.
I think the MGB has a monocoque construction, with no separate chassis, like the rust-bucket Jaguar E-Type/D-type!
I think the Triumphs; Herald. Spitfire, etc, all have a conventional angle Chassis, with a bolted-on body...much easier to pass the MOT!

You are right Paul, the MG is monocoque, where as the Spitfire is a body and chassis rails. They both have plus points. Monocoque running gear is bolt on bolt off, but any corrosion can be a total nightmare. The Truimph on the other hand, it makes body repairs easier, but it is very easy to end up with a twisted body if you are not very, very careful when removing it or working on it.
My MG, or Emmy (the MG) as my boys have taken to calling her is just surface rust, one of the reasons I bought her. I had no great desire to be welding for the next couple of years.......
And as for the aforementioned 200 quid, the Boss took it rather well.........in fact, a liitle too well
......will just have to wait and see what it costs me

No problem, I now have a new woman in my life, although she smells of old petrol. Must be an oily did stick joke in there too
