Hello,

Sometime I ago I was reading either an official manual for FSX, or something similar. I can't remember exactly what the publication was, but none the less, I am trying to find something that was in there...

If I recall correctly, there is a stock module or something to that extent that is for flight instructors. This module can be installed on another computer on the network and the instructor can control failures, give vectors for practice approaches, control weather, and so on. Does anyone have a clue if this exists and if so, where can it be found.

-Thanks

I sincerely thank you for your time & reply bass. I used to spend, oh my goodness, countless hours assisting and providing information to others on the internet, and again, I thank you for your time. Very organized and informative post you provided, with videos and all links. It was perfect. With that being said, I don't think I was very clear or descriptive on what it was I was looking for. Which is my fault. I must confess that I am looking for something a little different.

I am looking for what I believe is a "stock," as in provided with by Microsoft in the installation of FSX, a piece of software that I will call a "module" for the sake of giving it a name. Here is a better example, in which I will reference XPlane. When I was working on my instrument rating a few years ago, we had a PCAD simulator at my flight school. We would use it on bad weather days to practice approaches and log a little time here and there. XPlane was the software used on the training device, and while I would sit at the controls, behind me, at another station with monitor, keyboard, and mouse...would be my instructor. He had a screen which was similar to a radar screen a controller would look at, a top down reference of my aircraft position and all necessary details (HDG, ALT, Airspeed, all those goodies), and had tools to be able to fail any system and so on. Basically, a "master station" or "instructor station" if you will. He would be able to provide me vectors for approaches and basically, just act like the real ATC. We would practice the radio calls just like in the plane and everything. The station he was at, was a piece of stock software that came with XPlane that allowed for this type of connection. This, in a nut shell, is what I am looking for.

Like I said before, I remember reading about it in a manual, or possibly seeing it flash up on the install screen when installing FSX, something to the extent of what I had described. I know FSX has the option for 'shared cockpit' and has another option where you can connect via a multiplayer session and act as ATC in a control tower, but I am looking for a piece of software that can connect to my PC via a LAN and do what I described above. I could be way off in left field on this, but for the life of me, I really feel like I have seen something like this at some point in time. Wouldn't be the first time I was wrong though. I thought I would be a paid super star as a pilot, now I am just a broke guy who loves to fly, has over priced sunglasses, and looking for something that might not exist. Cheesy

Considered this thread answered and closed. After a week or so of searching, I have found my answer. I will post it for future reference. What I was looking for was specifically called, "Instructor Console." The Instructor Console used to be provided in some versions of Microsoft Flight Simulator, but was not provided in FSX. They opted out and changed things to the "aircraft sharing" and "controller station" that I had previously mentioned. Again thank you Bass for your time and the post, once again, it is appreciated.
