Evening all... Smiley

Is there a better Cessna 185 than the Carenado C185 I purchased.

The configuration of the aircraft is not bad:
-wheels
-wheel/ski
-float
-amphibian

However the cockpit is not set up very well.

Nothing like the Cessna 180/185s we owned and not like many of the updated C180/185 cockpits we have been in.

Firstly the Vertical Speed Indicator can not be viewed in FSX unless you bank the aircraft.

The autopilot was used on the ARK I think.   Grin

Looking for a better cockpit if anyone knows of one... Wink

I've been using this (found @ flightsim.com):

FS2004 Cessna C185 Skywagon 2D Panel Addition
[ Download | View ]

Name: skywagon_2dpanel.zip
Size: 1,382,426 Date: 01-09-2011 Downloads: 357

FS2004 Cessna C185 Skywagon 2D Panel Addition. Panel addition for Carenado's C185 Skywagon, 16:10 widescreen ratio, optimized for 1680x1050 screen resolution. Panel created by using a screen shot of the C185's VC as background bitmap and adding the parameters of the original gauges. VC and pop-ups remained unaltered. Screen shot of the VC panel used and edited with permission from Carenado. Additional panel for amphibian model (with gear gauge) included. Prior installation of Carenado's C185 Skywagon Bush is required. By Markus Hellwig.

I used FSPS to add a couple of gauges to the 2D panel, and it seems to work fine. It won't affect the VC in any way, which was a surprise to me. Maybe you could use this as a template to get the panel the way you want.

Hope this helps!

Doug,

The only other fsx C185 I'm aware of is the Abacus Premier Collection C185. Though the panel layout is more to your liking, the aircraft lacks the detail and models of the Carenado. You can see it or download a 7 day trial here. http://www.abacuspub.com/fsd/catalog/s582.htm

On the off chance you're not aware, in the Carenado there are a couple of ways to see things hidden by the yoke;
-hide either yoke by clicking on the 'hot spot' located in/near the yoke tube bushing.
-or open most any gauge in a pop-up by clicking the 'hot spot' on the gauge face.

I have modified the panel, replacing the 300A Navomatic with the default Bendix AP and DME in all panels. I also swapped gauge positions in the Tundra to see if it might work for you. Here's a couple of images.

...

...

If you're interested I can send you instructions or the modified panel.cfg files.
