I have the shareware version of RFP 747-200. Each livery pack contains a .exe (installer) file. I installed to f:\fsx\simobjects\aircraft.  No new liveries showed up.

Is that the correct folder? Is there some other way to get the textures and manually install into fsx?

Extract the .zip to a temporary folder, then manually install the aircraft in FSX/simobjects/airplanes.  An installer for FS9 is looking for an "aircraft" folder, and will not find one, and, if I recall correctly, will just dump the files into FS9's root directory, so you may have to do a little "cleaning up" to remove the files, just to keep you FS9 directory neat and tidy..
