Goodly morning all.... Smiley

Recently I purchased several West Coast ORBX Sceneries and a couple of Payware Aircraft.

Just got this electronic gizmo (that I am sure hates me) up and running reasonably well or well enough to keep it from the bottom of the river... Smiley

I always used the Microsoft Flight Simulator Programs from FS98 up to FSX as Instrument Training Aids and consider them a pretty good game.

Now what I am trying to accomplish are some fly-in camping trips with a good little amphibious bug smasher.

I have started off with the Cessna 185 Amphibian as could not find another amphibian a little smaller that was freeware.  Still looking... Smiley

Many of you post wonderful screenshots on one of the Graphic Gallery Forums.

Now what I do not do enough of is pause the flight to take a screenshot.  Really, that is not very realistic to flight unless in an eggbeater with a million moving parts all flying in unison looking for a place to have an accident... Grin

My first shot I posted of this camping trip in my opinion is a disaster, it is the take-off from Misty's Place in Alaska and the ground detail is awful.

I am thinking rather than trying to show the entire airfield that a close up shot of the aircraft and perhaps a building would look much better.

Not so much detail but also just enough scenery to make others want to go there.

Just my opinion on that one.  Take-off shots are difficult when trying to show far too much detail or too much of the area.

Now where I also found a problem is with an aircraft like the Cessna 185 Amphibian on take-off you are busy flying the aircraft.
So true in real flight and on the Microsoft Flight Simulator.
Gear up, power settings, flap settings and watching where you are going leaves little time to take a good shot without pausing the flight.

So that is just a couple of the problems I have run into so far and I am just starting out on this simulated camping trip... Grin

Please feel free to post your tips, opinions and techniques here.
Flight simulation much like real flight is a learning process and thanks to Simviation, it's membership and all the freeware developers the learning process becomes much much easier.

Egads, hope I am posting this in the right location, don't want to have to stand in the corner of my wee shed another hour... Grin     Wink

Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug

Hello Doug...

I suppose it depends on what you mostly use the Flight Simulator for, and specialise in, eg;

(a) Flying...(pretending to fly aeroplanes!)..and just admiring the surrounding scenery in the process.... Kiss...!
(b) Taking Amazing Screen Shots!.... Cheesy...!

I always stick to (a), and very occasionally press "Print Screen" just to show that I am still awake!... Wink...!

I personally do both,I enjoy the scenery and when I see what could be a nice shot (usualy takeoff at bowerman Roll Eyes) I pause it,look for a nice angle, unpause and continue flying. Wink

If you have a spare button on your flight stick, you could move the screen shot on to that. Then you dont need to look down on the board Wink

I too mostly pause the flight.

Just a note.
"My first shot I posted of this camping trip in my opinion is a disaster, it is the take-off from Misty's Place in Alaska and the ground detail is awful."

Its a good idea to let the scenery, inside fsx, gets an update, every time you change/omits anything that has to do with sceneries Wink
