PASSED MY PRIVATE PILOT CHECK RIDE!  Cheesy

45 days...45 hours and finally a pilot..............just 2 days before I leave for college to start working on my instrument.  Grin

Just thought I'd inform my second family. Been a stressful summer trying to get this out of the way as fast as I could before I left for college but glad I did. I'm going to cherish my flight tomorrow as my first private pilot flight then in 2 weeks I'll be switching over to a Piper Archer to get my instrument.

Love ya guys  Cool

Hello Tyler!.... Wink...!

Watch out for all those little Microlights and Hang Gliders at Byron, and all those dangerous, whirling "Windmills" at the Altamont Wind Farm.... Shocked...!

I'll catch you at Byron in my little Cessna 150... Smiley...!

I find this so exciting, Tyler... Cheesy...!

Thinking back to our fun days of Multiplayer flights, etc, with all the other Sim V young Lads.....(we don't see many of them now!).

A lot of water under the bridge, but you finally made it....Mum and Dad will be really proud!

Will you be leaving San Francisco for your College Course?

Keep us updated with progress!

Paul...Earthbound...on a Motor Bike... Grin...!

Mom and Dad are very proud but sad I'm leaving! I'm actually leaving tomorrow to go off to school, where I'll be getting my degree in Aeronautical Science...so in just a couple weeks I'll be up getting instrument rated then onto commercial!

My school is in Billings, Montana so a totally different atmosphere than California flying but it'll be fun! As you might know from flying in and around the Bay Area there are TONS of airport's to chose from which is something I'll miss in Montana.  Sad

Here's some footage of my flight today with my Dad. Before I left thought I'd take him up. The first takeoff and landing are in Stockton, just over the Altamont, not to far from Byron. The last landing is at Livermore which you probably already knew.  Wink

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OmFWp0fm-lU

I did take him to Byron though! We live close to Byron and the Patriots Jet Team are stationed there (surprisingly a small airport)....I chose Runway 30 at Byron where it was a 80 degree crosswind...almost a direct crosswind to scare him a bit!  Grin

Glad to know I'm remembered by a few pilots around the forum. I remember the day I joined and how clueless I was about aviation. I haven't posted as much as I use to because of how busy I've been but I make my occasional round trip to stop by and see what's going on. Gotta give most props to Simviation for helping me with my dream discovery and getting me on the right path.  Cool

Oh and P.S. Paul...I'll never forget your pictures of your meals.  Cheesy I remember I posted one just for you but my meal was a lot less tasty than yours looked.  Grin

Many thanks for the flight link, Tyler!

It reminds my just how dry and dusty Central Valley can be, especially around Byron!
I must seriously reduce my "Autogen Vegetation" to represent the area better!
I recognise the different airfields in my FS 2004, and its fantastic to see them in real life!
I spend a lot of time travelling around the area with Google Street Maps and Web Cams, at ground level!

Billings, Montana!...Google mapped it...LOTS of high mountains!
..and a long way from home!
Colder weather than SOCAL?
I'll load up my FS 2004 and explore the area!

I spend a lot of Sim time in Western Montana; Missoula (KMSO) travelling up and down the Bitteroot Mountain valley, North and South, following Highway 93 up to Canada!

Many thanks again, Tyler, for all the details... Smiley...!

Paul....Cessna 150. G-BPLF. Holding at Runway 30, Byron, ready for take-off to the North... Grin...!
