As the title says, I went to work this morning and found this on the ramp. Couple of hours later it was time for her to leave. She is from the The Historic Aircraft Collection in Duxford. Pictures taken with my mobile phone.

Very cool, I can only envision being in a firefight in such a tight cockpit space. Encumbered with all the military gear and maps and such. I would only guess that a spit pilot needed a combination of fear and confidence on every mission.
edit: Hurricane or spit? No matter. same samo.
Flying with twins is a lot of fun..

No need to feel like that mate, they do look quite similar.
One way you can tell is that if it has Fabric it’s a Hurricane.

Saying a Hurri looks like a Spit is a bit like saying "Yes Mark I'd love to be drowned in a vat of boiling marmalade!"

Yes Mark, you are quite right, the Spitfire is rather girly....

G-HURI gave it away for me as I got to the second shot (as I have pretty much zip all knowledge on most aircraft, let alone the old ones)
Is there a G-SPIT too?
Great shots though! It must be great fun to fly!

G-SPIT is The Fighter Collection's Mk XIV.
There used to be a G-FIRE too, well known in the early 80s (being notable in the house colours of the late Spencer Flack - bright red, with white and blue trim - to match his Hunter and Sea Fury!).
G-HURI is off to Moscow (as are a couple of other UK airshow favourites), piloted by Flt Lt Dave Harvey, one of Historic Aircraft Collection's pilots.

Lets hope you don't get close up with a Spitfire. They have fabric too.

I almost got to work on her, well sort of.... The transponder was showing intermittent fail, but I am a heavy and our fairy had gone home at 06:00. Shame maybe I could have held a screwdriver and torch and claimed to be part of the glory afterwards
However, Moscow, that would explain why she was departing north east after giving us a 270 fly by and not turning right-ish off to Blighty

Very nice Matt!

What I meant by that was the Hurricane had a Fabric Covered rear fuselage whilst Spitfires fuselages are metal panels.
As far as I can remember the only part of a Spitfires fuselage that had fabric were the Control Surfaces.

I know...
That's apart from the dummy ones... They were mostly fabric!
