Hi folks.
I want to hide several of the models that are been listed on my FSX model selection window.
I don't want to uninstall them because i use on personalized traffic files, but nowhere else.
I noted that the models downloaded and installed with World of AI doesn't appear in the list and I want to do the same with these models that I don't want.
Does anyone know how can I do this? What setting should I change?

Thanks.

Go into each aircraft's main folder and rename the panel folder(s). Something like xxxpanel will do.

If you later want the aircraft back in the list, just revert to the folder name to panel.

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation. Igor Sikorsky

You know....you can just rip up a to-do list.

Really about the only way besides uninstalling them.

You must have been reading my mind, my fsx is taking longer to load nowadays due to the amount of aircraft.

If you have lots to rename it maybe quicker to write a .bat file to do it for you and one to rename them back again.
You can do it in one .bat file.
You may have to run the .bat file as administrator.

The following will work under win7, it renames the panel folder, starts fsx, when you exit fsx it renames the folder(s) back for you, I would expect it to run on XP and vista.

CD C:\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\B737_800
rename panel 01panel
cd C:\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X
call fsx.exe
CD C:\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\B737_800
rename 01panel panel

The above works fine on my win7 installation.
If you use the above i presume you'll not have your fsx installed in the same place.
On all of the lines starting CD you will have to enter the path to your own installation of fsx and the aircraft folders as required.

I should be able to reduce the file by one line, I just haven't done.

To try the above create a .txt file on your desktop with notepad, leave it empty, save it as 737.txt for example.
Copy and paste the above into it and save it again and exit notepad
Right click on this file and select rename: change the .txt to .bat and save again.

Run fsx and check your 737's are there, exit back to the main menu.
Run the .bat file and go back to select aircraft and your 737's should not be displayed.
To run the .bat file: on win7, right click on this 737.bat icon and click on run as administrator.
When you exit fsx it will automatically rename the file back for you.
The file can be split into 2 .bat (batch) file so you don't have to exit fsx to run the 737, running the file above WILL use slightly more memory.

To split: remove

cd C:\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X
call fsx.exe

save the bit above these lines as one file and the line below it as another, you will manually have to start fsx..

Older systems will prob work just by double clicking on it.

Any problems I'll try and help.
Shortcut to renaming files is to click once and press F2 but then use the cursor keys before you type anything.

So far my number of landings either passenger or pilot equal my number of takeoffs, but that is due to change Smiley

On a very similar vein...
I have a great number and climbing of Cessna 172 textures, and therefore, that same number displayed on the Aircraft selection page.
Is it possible to hide some of these, the personalised ones, so they DONT show up on that page, but are still available to FSX, so FSX can render them correctly when I see THAT cessna in game?

If on multiplayer I don't think it matters if you have the texture unstalled as fsx send the model unlike the old ms flight sims that needed the model on eacvh pc to be able to see it.

If thinking of AI aircraft I think the resolution of the texture is less than what you see on external view of yours otherwise your Pc would not cope with rendering etc.

Maybe somebody can give some info, I think you would have to create a 'texture/model' that is not flyable.
