Here we can see why the aircraft started to sink at the rear. Looking at the damage, it is amazing that the aircraft stayed afloat for the length of time it did. I also spoke to one of the team who are preserving the aircraft, what is not to be seen is the aft galley floor has lost all structural integrity and you can see the outside world through the floor from inside.

It is the A320 that crash landed on the Hudson river two (?) years ago after suffering multiple bird strikes to both engines. She is located in Charlotte North Carolina. Everyone walked or swam away from the crash Smiley

It was in 2009 when she hit a flock of birds.  Great shots!

To be fair, Sullie has never said a thing, it was the media Roll Eyes He has always been very modest and always said it was a team effort from cockpit and cabin crew.

Sullie looked more like he didn't want the press in his face. That is what impressed me the most about him. I never heard him say he was a hero?

Wow.... this is one very thought out comment... maybe you should learn a little about aviation before you start posting on aviation boards.  He landed a fricken jet in the water with no fatalaties... and accepted the media onslaught as it came.  Never once calling himself a "wonderful hero".  Just thinking about your ignorance makes me want to vomit.

Never heard Sullenberger say anything like that.   Huh

It's the media... they toss the word "hero" around way too much, IMHO... it's an offense to anyone who's actually died doing something heroic.  Angry

And he'd be the first to admit that there was nothing heroic about what he did... perfectly routine for a glider pilot.  Wink

To be fair, I should also mention that he also flew F-4s for a while... anyone who's ever had a power problem in an F-4 would be pretty hard to rattle.  Grin
