Ah, I heard about that movie shooting! A terrible thing....
I do not live in Colorado, but a ton of my friends were out seeing the Dark Night movie at the time of the shooting... Glad it wasn't them!

Antis are already tarring all people who own or carry guns what are not police or military with the same brush.
They just won't accept that there are just plain wack jobs out there. Nothing is going to prevent them from going over the edge.
I have been carrying a firearm every day for twenty years and haven't gone on a murderous rampage. Wait for it! I am not a po-po or a serving member of the military.
Expect to see the blood dancers cavort all in this lake.
The Bad Unkie is a bit down.

Proud gun owner here too!
That shooting is why my dad says "trust God not people". Im sorry, but all the muscles or self defense moves wont do a lick of good if the attacker is 50ft away with a firearm...as the saying goes, never bring a knife to a gunfight.
Im not saying I support shootouts, obviously I dont, but I do support self defense and the right to live and protection of your loved ones' lives.

Here we go again.
"Holmes was apprehended within minutes of the 12:39 a.m. shooting at his car behind the theater, where police found him in full riot gear and carrying three weapons, including a AR-15 assault rifle, which
can
hold upwards of 100 rounds ..."
The libtard media love stuff like this. It makes it look like the guy could have taken out half a city in a few seconds with a perfectly legal weapon.
What they don't tell you is that an AR-15 is semi-automatic. To me that doesn't meet the definition of "assault rifle" but technically even semis can be assault rifles.
Fully automatic firearms have been illegal in the United States for almost 100 years. No one is walking around the streets with machine guns - except maybe Rosie O'Donnell's security crew.
AR-15 magazines rarely contain more than 30 rounds. 30 rounds is considered to be a high capacity magazine.

Small correction Webb.
Machine guns are legal in the states under certain conditions.
You must have one purchased before the 1986 ban on the sale of new machine guns to the general public and you must have the Federal tax stamped paperwork for any machinegun owned.
Simple enough. I used to have a Thompson Sub-Machine gun. Full auto rock-and-roll boogy! Purchased it from one of my dad's former employers. Unfortunately, money got tight and I was forced to sell the critter. Sold it thru a gun shop and the purchaser had to pass the NICS backround check as well as jump thru the additional Federal hoops required to purchase the full-auto.
The Bad Unkie Has Facted Checked You! little lol there

Yeah, I remembered
US v. Miller
incorrectly.
The law did not completely ban fully automatic weapons. It just imposed a federal registration and tax.

As long as you pay tax, you can have a machine gun

You can follow the links to see what the law says. It's a virtual ban by means of harassing people so much that it's not feasible to legally own a full auto.

Its amazing how quickly my post of describing the grief and misery of the poor folks of Colorado, suffering the death and injury inflicted on their friends and in loved-ones, by a lone, "fruit-case", Gunman, can degenerate into a glorification of American Gun Culture....

Any thread such as this will always have a gun debate running within in it. The problem being that in many peoples eyes, a person such as this represents all gun owners..........

Whilst its a horrible thing to have happened I do have a Question.
Why would you take a six year-old to a midnight screening of Batman?

That's a very good point Andy. Perhaps young children being subjected to more & more violence on the screen is part of the problem. I see this film has a 13-PG certificate in the US. My 7 year-old granddaughter wouldn't be allowed to watch it anyway, whatever time of day it was.
