KSNA has a reputation for a radical noise abatement departure. Wonder what the local citizens would say to this extreme noise abatement departure (beside the pilot types who would say "wow"

You are correct. However, you would not fly over the bleeding hearts in Newport Beach. Anyway, to heck with them if they can't take a joke!

When I was in the Navy back in the 1980s I served as an AO with VF-2 and VF-24. I was around jet noise everyday and I love the sound. The 1st time I came home on leave to visit my parents here in Texas it was so damned quite in the house I couldn't sleep. I had to get a box fan and turn it on high to fall asleep from the roar of the fan. To this day I still do this and I've been out of the Navy for over 24 years. Nice shot of the F/A-18 BA.

They should be like the folks in Beaufort SC. My retired grandparents live ~10min away from MCAS Beaufort and the whole town loves the sound of the military planes. They dub it "The Sound of Freedom" and lobbied very hard for MCAS Beaufort to GET the F-35B. My grandpa every day (weather permitting) drives his golf cart out to a remote spot in a near by golf course to spend an hour or so watching the military aircraft fly around.
"At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation."- Igor Sikorsky
