I was reading about this earlier. There have been many attempts and I kind of hope this one succeeds if only to lay her memory to rest.

There are two types of aeroplane, Spitfires and everything else that wishes it was a Spitfire!

If they do find the airplane, they won't find any remains of Earhart or Noonan (after 75 years at the bottom of the sea), so for those who like to think they survived the ditching (especially those who make money off that theory) the "mystery" will linger on, even if they find what's left of their clothing, etc.  Roll Eyes
It would be interesting to see what's left of the plane, but to me there's no mystery: they got lost, ran out of fuel, ditched, and more than likely drowned... probably before they could get out of the wreck. Not a pleasant thought, but the most likely true ending to the story.

Precisely. If she hadn't been famous this would have been front page news for perhaps a couple of days after the event & then forgotten. There would have been no mystery, no conspiracy theories & nobody on this forum would even remember her name.
