I've been thinking of burning a cd using songs that have a flying theme to it. I've compiled a list of possible music, not all tracks will make the final cut, but would appreciate any input from my fellow simmers.
Only one stipulation:
Absolutely
NO
music from the movies 'Top Gun' and/or 'Pearl Harbor'
Any music genre is acceptable but as can be seen from my list rock/pop is what I am most familiar with.
Here are some possibilities:
'Aeroplane' - The Red Hot Chili Peppers
'Learning to Fly' - Pink Floyd
'Goodbye Blue Sky' - Pink Floyd
'Jet Airliner' - The Steve Miller Band
'Vertigo' - U2
'Wheels' - The Foo Fighters
'Speed of Sound' - Coldplay
I'm still considering Gershwin's 'Rhapsody in Blue' but that might be a bit of a stretch, as might be 'Over the Hills and Far Away' - Led Zeppelin.
Ideas please!

Vertigo doesn't have much to do with flying IMO,but I do love it so.
Buaetiful day(still can't spell it) is more asociated with aircraft tough.

I appreciate the minimal (please note sarcasm here) help.
I wasn't aware this had been done before guys, but that's what happens when you don't read long-dead posts.
Anyhow, now that I've free time again I can settle on a lineup of music suited to please.

Up Up and Away - 5th Dimension
Eight Miles High - The Byrds
But I think that's about a different kind of flight and it has nothing to do with this picture.

Some good suggestions, Webb, thanks, sincerely. As long as the artist, song title, or lyrics mention anything to do with flying (and the music is good) I won't hesitate to consider it.
Among others considered on that basis:
Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds - Beatles
Low - Cracker
ya'll get my drift.

There's a band of a couple of USAF F-16 pilots with some hilarious aviation themed songs. They're on itunes, but considering the "mature content" of some of their songs I won't mention the name here, just in case any under 18's go looking!
Here's a (clean) sample of one of their songs, called "World War III":
"I was down in Southern Watch flying my F-16
When lead called for the picture and AWACS came back “clean'
But I saw a contact on my scope and it was runnin' hot
Although I wasn't targeted I went ahead and shot
Now I never even noticed that my nose was pointed east
And that Iranian fighter pilot was surprised to say the least
I tried to take it back but by then it was too late.... (verse continues)
So here's to you fighter pilots victors of the war
That got us all this real estate that's backed up to the shore
And now oil's a buck a barrel and it's all because of me
‘Cause I'm the [naughty word here] who started World War III"
As I said, not for your kids, but hilarious!
