Hello Chums... Smiley..!

FS 2004.

I have just spent a very enjoyable evening racing around the skies in my new English Electric Lightning...>>>

EE Lightning F1A Update. 3.77 MB

http://simviation.com/1/search?submit=1&keywords=EE+Lightning&categoryId=

..trubble is....It has no landing gear: http://www.simviation.com/phpupload/uploads/1340348678.jpg

It lands OK when the green lights are illuminated, but no landing gear appears on the model when they are "lowered".

Are they missing from the model?...any ideas?

Paul....Landing gear-less!... Cry...!

Latest news:
.....Never fear!...

This one works perfectly!...complete with landing gear!...>>> http://simviation.com/1/search?submit=1&keywords=AVALightning.zip&x=18&y=5

... Grin... Grin...!

I suspect that although the model is claimed to be a FS 2004 model, it is actually a FS 2002 Model which didn't convert very well to FS 2004...(animations?).

I don't mind trying out a genuine FS 2002 model in my FS 2004, (I often do, sometimes they work, sometimes they don't), but its a bit disappointing when a model is claimed to be suitable for FS 2004, when it (probably?) isn't... Cry...!

Never mind, I finally I got the genuine FS 2004 model (above), and it works a treat, with a fantastic 2D Panel, (I LOVE 2D panels!... Tongue... Wink...).

She certainly gets me from A to B very speedily!... Cheesy...!

Paul.... Smiley...!

I just tried it Paul. It's a typical animation bug with FS2002 aircraft in FS2004. I would have thought an old hand like you would know this by now.

When you first select the aircraft in Free Fllight you will see this warning.

...

Always click the No option. Voila!

...

If you clicked Yes some animations like the gear might not display properly. To fix this open fs9.cfg in Notepad & look for the aircraft listed under the [FrameCallNoWarn] header like this

Lightning F1A=0

Change the value 0 to 1. Sorted. Wink

PS. It's actually described as a CFS2 model in the file description.

Decisions, decisions, Doug... Sad...

A perennial problem for me.

Should I make a cup of Tea, or should I make a cup of Coffee?... Undecided...!

Paul...I finally bit the bullet, and went for Tea!... Smiley...!

P.S. Just out of curiosity, the entry [FrameCallNoWarn] does not appear in my fs9.cfg Notepad file... Huh....>>>>

...its dead now...

More info:....Professor Brian Cox uses one of the South African Lightnings (XS451) in his "Wonders of the Solar System" BBC TV programme - episode 3 of 5, "The Thin Blue Line". The broadcast features a "vertical" ascent, and allows the Professor to show the curvature of the Earth and the relative dimensions of the atmosphere. More than five minutes of the episode are devoted to the Lightning, with a large number of close-ups. Coincidentally, this was the aircraft that crashed only about a month later at the Overberg Airshow, after developing mechanical problems.

If you've ever installed an FS2002 aircraft to FS2004 you must have experienced this before.

If the entry is missing then try adding it.

What got me interested in this EE Lightning malarkey, was a program on BBC 2 last night...>>>

I was puzzled by the fact that the Prof Brian Cox is seen sat in the cockpit of the EE Lightning, and travelling very quickly vertically into space, and me thinking that the Lightning was a single-seater fighter, and doubting that the Prof held an Aeroplane Driving Licence, to boot!

A subsequent Wikie search revealed that there is a rare trainer model fitted with 2 seats, side by side, (which is cosy), and it was a proper pilot which took him skywards!

It illustrated the great speed which the Lightning can continuously travel vertically, a feat which my little Cessna 150 fails miserably... Cry...!

The Lightening is certainly my aeroplane of choice to travel between San Francisco and Los Angeles at a speed which my Cessna 150 can only dream of, and never see the curvature of the Earth!... Roll Eyes...!

Paul...just call me "5G's Fozz".... Cool...!
