Great shots of a nice collection of Warbirds Cool

"Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth and danced the skies on laughter silvered wings. Sunward I've climbed and joined the tumbling mirth of sun split clouds.....and done a hundred things you have never dreamed of.....wheeled and soared and swung high in the sunlit silence. Hovering there, I've chased the shouting wind along and flung my eager craft through footless halls of air.

Up, up the long, delerious, burning blue I've topped the wind swept heights with easy grace where never Lark, nor even Eagle flew. While with silent lifting of mind I've trod the high untrespassed sanctity of space, put out my hand and touched the face of god"

Nice shots on the Aircraft, but the scenery....is typical FSX. To me it looks muddled. Microsoft must have used some sort of random road generator, Do road systems really look like that?

I see what you mean.
What do you suppose then?
A complete REX install? Do you have it?

Maybe a simflyer with REX could show some city roads.  Wink

Here are some from my system

REX is sky, clouds, weather....maybe some good photo-scenery?

For instance...REX adds to the shot, it completes what the eye sees and interprets, and then ask yourself...does it look real? Does it resemble what i think it might look like if i had really been up there and took a photo?

You cant beat some real looking scenery! Sorry for using one of my own shots for an example!!!

Rule No.1 - If your scenery is very good, USE IT. If its not so good, hide it with clouds, zoom in on the aircraft or use an angle which doesnt show it.  Wink

...

I dont mean to go on, and some may have differing opinions, but i believe screenshots should be more than just flying about and pressing the 'take a screenshot' button willy nilly. Its an art-form. Just how realistic can we make them? thats the challenge.

Take a gander through the forums and look at Chucks, Jankees, pfevrier, Daubes and many others screenshots. What makes them stand out?

What do they do different?

A good aircraft model and paint is just the start, but personally i try many differing angles, times, weather themes, and so on until i get what i think is as close to realism as the sim allows. I never use default scenery, in most cases its usualy muddled, odd looking and ruins the illusion of reality that, say, an A2A model presents us with.

Aircraft, scenery, weather, lighting. Each should be as 'real as it gets'. Hunt out things like HDE clouds, bluesky scenery and so on which are freeware if payware isnt an option. Theres loads out there... Smiley

Of course your FSX should be set up to run as well as it can, and look as good as it can before you even start.... Cool

Even i have fallen into the mundane 'great shots' comments at just about everything. We all like to see comments on our work, if its good, thats great but others thoughts/advice/critique should and must be more welcome?  Only then can we improve.

Criticism, as long as its constructive, is a very good thing. There was a member on here some time ago called 'Harold', and he used to make sure he passed comment on many shots presented on here with his thoughts and advice. Maybe its time we all did similar. He certainly helped me improve i know that. I revisit my early shots from time to time and its good to do that also. We learn all the time  Smiley

I shut up now Grin

Thanks a lot for this input, todayshorse. I'll surely have a go on improving scenery (addons), taking pics in right angles a.s.o..
My wifes hobby is photographing, but she wont fly with me in a twoseat glider, and i dont know why  Wink Grin

This might be my last shots in a very long time.

If payware isn't an option look at me and my shots!(not boasting. Roll Eyes)
I can't afford payware but I still manage great,my sim runs at 11 FPS on average WITH ENB bloom on,and I have an acer!!!

I do wish I could find some more freeware photo-scenery tough...

Colour print? Im not sure what that is! Smiley

I use ENB Bloom to bring out some colour.

Lightning? I meant lighting, as in lighting the shot as you would if you were photographing somthing. If you use your hat key on the joystick in locked spot and move around the aircraft, youll see how the light affects the aircraft, facing the sun or away from it. Dusk/Dawn settings change this quite a lot  Smiley
