50 years ago 22 year old Jack Nicklaus won the first of his 18 major championships at the US Open at Oakmont, Pennsylvania. He defeated Arnold Palmer in an 18 hole playoff.

Palmer said, "Now that the big guy is out of the cage, everybody better run for cover."
