With mothers day just past and fathers day coming up soon I wanted to take a moment and reflect on life.
They told me to pay attention in school, get good grades they said, go to college they said, get good grades there they said.
Growing up I didn't like those words. I was a kid, I wanted to have FUN! Why study when there's this nifty computer game called flight simulator?

But over time I began to study a little more, my grades got better and I got into college and after a few years graduated with several degrees (one being in aviation!).
After finishing college all of that studying had paid off, I worked my way into an organization with plenty of opportunity to move up and had good benefits.
While finishing up my degree I met, fell in love, and eventually married the love of my life on 9/16/2011. I owe the success of my relationship with my wife to the values that my parents raised me with.
A few weeks ago though, I found the true reason my parents had always pushed me to strive towards excellence. They were trying to make sure that after graduation and throughout my life I would be instilled with the proper upbringing and knowledge to be successful in today's world.
Almost 3 weeks ago my new bride and I took possession of our first home. It's not as big or fancy as we originally pictured our first home to be, but it far exceeds what charm and character many of the other homes that we looked at had.
This my friends is what I consider the all american dream.
