Hey guys, wondering if anyone could help me out?
Ive recently aquired a new monitor, a Samsung P2450H, however my computer wont give me the correct resolution to fit the screen. The best resolution for the monitor is 1920-1080 but the best the computer seems to offer is 1920-1440 or 1600-1200.
Im wondering if there may be a new driver i need to install, or an update available but further than this and I really dont know what im looking for.
Many thanks
Mass

AFAIK, By default Windows will hide resolutions that your hardware won't support. What graphics adapter (video card) and OS are you using?
Specs: Asus Crosshair nForce 590 SLI,
AMD Athlon X2 6400+ w/ZeroTherm BTF90,
4GB G.Skill PI Series DDR2-800,
Sapphire HD4870 512MB,
PC P&C 750 Quad, in a CoolerMaster HAF932

Sorry i meant to put my specs in the post above.
Im running windows 7.
In the 'system' msection of the control panel it doesnt seem to tell me what the video card is.
Packard Bell imedias3800
Intel Core i3CPU
530 @ 2.93GHz
3GB RAM
64bit OS
When i looked deeper into where the video card should be all i saw was something called VGASave. I dont know what that is.
Thanks again

Ok, here's what I found:
IF this bloke is right
(couldn't find any other references to this machine as far as video cards go) then your card SHOULD have a max VGA resolution of 2048X1536, and a max digital resolution of 2560x1600, so you should be able to run it at the settings you want.
As descibed here.
Open the side of your machine's case, and see if there is a card in it that looks like the one at the previous link.
The fact that your machine gives you generic video card info (instead of Nvidia this, or ATI that) suggests that the best drivers may not be installed for your machine. Installing drivers from the video card's manufacturer may solve your problem. You'll need to do some info hunting to determine what you're running.
On a side note, I went to PB's UK website, and even they don't offer much help as far as product info goes.
Hope it helps.

From what i can see, theres no video card in the machine at all.... unless i simply cant see it. Im assuming that it should be plugged into the motherboard, if so then theres none there.
The only things on the motherboard are the RAM sticks and a wireless adapter plus the usual suspects.

No problem at all...
You might have an onboard Intel graphics adapter. Have a look
here
and see what drivers are available.
Before you install any new drivers though, let me ask you this.
Are you working on the ORIGINAL Packard Bell install, or has this computer been wiped and reloaded at some point? If it's the latter, were Packard Bell recovery disks or a recover partition used to reinstall, or a Windows 7 install disk only?

Im pretty certain its all original. It was bought as a machine for my dad's office, sat there and got used like twice in a few months and then ended up at home when our system crashed. So it should be all original setup.

Ok. Check to see if there is an Intel or graphics driver available from PB site. (The last link) It asks for a model number like PT.UXX or PV.Uxxx, so look around on the tower for a reference to a number similar to that. Post it here when you find it.

im unable to find anything similar to that on the tower.
Upon closer inspection i saw it has 'Integrated Intel GMA HD graphics'
but the only model numbers are either s3800 or i4521, nothing along the lines you suggested.

Is
this the same machine you have
?
If so, (actually, even if it isn't the exact model you have)
Intel's driver update utility
might prove useful.

Just wanted to say thanks again for the help.
Unfortunately I wasn't able to make it work, however my dad's business had a few spares for a very very complicated reason and so he bought one home to replace it as there was more wrong with it than just that. It had become phenomenally slow, i'm pretty certain it had contracted something!
Cheers again
