While browsing for the "secret russian aircraft of ww2" history channel show on youtube I stumbled across the Wings of Russia series. For those that remember the Discovery Channel: Wings Channel, you may think this series is the same as Wings of the Red Star..this is not the case. The Wings of Russia series IS a Russian documentary series, as such the translator makes some rather amusing goofs. That said, it is really interesting and a great eye-opener for us Westerners.
The Cold War vets here might find it interesting as well.
Just go to youtube and search: "Wings of Russia 1 of 18" for the 1st episode, replace the 1 with a 2 for the second and so on. The first couple cover fighter development, then bombers, attackers, and then civilian. I am personally on episode 9.
These are ~50min episodes but very well done with lots of wonderful archive footage and some really interesting tid-bits.

Nice catch. I did without cable to save a few bucks. Netflix for the most part has almost everything I need and is slowly catching up to all the historical stuff I'm used to watching. Why pay 180+ for cable boxes when I can pay about 45 for high speed internet and 7 for netflix. Money saved is more beer earned
.
I do miss my Wings channel though. When I did have cable I had it set to my default channel when I turned my TV on

Mike, when I was a kid, my dad was going through flight training so we were dead broke. In order to watch Wings, my grandpa tapped it all the time. So we had the old fashion DVR
We still have a stock pile of VHS tapes of random Wings shows, most of which I have found on youtube.
Wings of the Luftwaffe anyone??
