AUGUSTA, Ga. – The buzz is booming through the stately pines at Augusta National Golf Club. Tiger Woods is back absorbing the major tournament spotlight.

He hasn't won a major since claiming the 14th of his career in the 2008 U.S. Open, and he hasn't won the Masters since 2005. But 15 years after becoming the first player of African-American descent to win a green jacket, Woods again appears to be rolling as he heads into the first round today at Augusta.

He's coming off a victory two weeks ago in the Arnold Palmer Invitational, his first PGA Tour win in more than two years. And while he has missed four majors since the 2008 U.S. Open and has been 0-for-10 in the ones he has played, he always has been a threat here.

"I think he's going to have a great week," Phil Mickelson says. "To have won heading in I think gives him a lot of confidence. Sucks for us."

Tiger Woods’ last two visits to TPC Sawgrass have been cut short due to injuries, but he’s determined to give it another shot next month.
