I suspect that most of New York will be celebrating the occasion today, with the black fluid!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!... Smiley...!

Paul...with a glass, (or three), of Napa Valley, red fluid... Smiley..!

I don't have any traces of Irish in my blood... But give it a few hours and I will have many units of Irish heritage in my blood stream  Grin

Baby Guinness: 3/4 of a shot of coffee liqueur, 1/4 of a shot of baileys floated on the top. Mini stout-bevvy!  Grin

The bulk of idiots here at Western Michigan University jumped the gun and got wasted last night...needless to say, it was very loud last night and very annoying. In short, I could not hate this holiday anymore than I do now after living on campus 2 years in a row!

The Scottish side of my ancestry fought along side William Wallace. The rest of me is Italian,my fathers side. At the run my wife did last weekend in Savannah GA,they were also doing pre St Paddys day events. The first thing I caught them on was the bag pipes. Beautiful as they were, I couldn't help but notice that they played Scotland The Brave alot. No Irish songs on the pipes....odd....

Originally, the Romans applied 'Scoti' to all Irish -- but it was more applicable to the Milesian Scots who had defeated the Tuatha Danaan; legend says that the Milesians gave the Tuatha Danaan women to the Caledonians (Picts); the Scottish migration and ascendency began in what's now Scotland with the Dal Riada kingdom (Ulster and a portion straight east in Caledonia).
The McLain part of my ancestery claims Scotch-Irish ancestry -- I guess that means it's only Irish when it's drunk.

Grin H, that made me laugh. You sir, are a national treasure! Who, here, would have thought of that off the top of their head?
