Zaku used REX sky and I think he admitted so he should be disqualified...
EDIT:
I just checked and he did + he cropped the image.

Back before my long break from FSX I used to enter a pic every month (some of you may remember). I've never been a finalist before. I'm honored. A humble thank you and good luck to the rest of the finalists

Dom't worry about the REX shots, they seem to be trailing in votes...

Four shots shouldn't be in here, cropped, REX. So there is only one.
hopefully you win!

But I still think that it's unfair that REX is banned yet these guys are still allowed in the finals when there were other shots that did not involve cheating.
So you should disqualify the shots that used REX & were cropped & put in other shots that obeyed the rules so that people who actually read & obeyed the rules have a chance to win.

I agree as well. Among other things it would be unfair to those of us who pulled our submissions because they had payware skies. I had posted my entry thinking that payware "scenery" referred to ground scenery. When I realized it also included payware skies (FEX in my case), I pulled my entry. Not that it would have mattered, I suppose...but even so.

Rules discussions aside, im so honoured that I am in the final again! So far every shot I have entered has made it which is awesome! Im yet to win but the fact I get into the top ten makes the effort I go to totally worth while. Especially the pain that is setting REX to default then reinstalling it....
That said here there is one shot that to me is what I hope the future if aviation will be about and that's the Icon A5 by U4EA, I hope that the A5 will pave the way for more low cost rec reational aircraft so that more and more people will find the joy of flying more accessible and affordable.

Well the rules were changed after the start of the monthly contest. The "No REX" clause was added after a few people complained about the Payware skies, which is fine. I think that those who used payware weather have every right to be in the running. From here on out we cant use them and now everyone knows. I am glad i made it into the top ten and wish much luck to all other contestants.

REX had never been allowed, the rules weren’t changed that was just when the rule was written down.
And your attitude is less than pleasing, you seem to want to be allowed to cheat & get away with it.

You being a newbie, you don't know. REX has
ALWAYS
been banned, and not because of yourself. there are so many other people who want to be in here, who played BY THE RULES. Even know you admitted to it, and think the rules were changed because of you... Your wrong.

BlackAce you’re completely right apart from one thing. This cheat has been here since July so he should know the rules he just chose to ignore them.

Holy crapomatic Dave! Thanx for the compliment!
I always knew truly smart, insightful, probably handsome and awesomely cool guys are named Dave!!!
(Give ya a guess as to what
my
name is?)
Aside from all that frivolity........
I consider it a win, at least for me, just to make into the final regardless of who's shot had what or what was done to it. Or who the winner ends up being.
At the end of the day though, it does boil down to adherence to the set of rules that was put forth at the beginning. Rules that have remained the same since I joined this site just over three years ago. Sooooooooo, shots that are non-coformists to the rules should not have been entered to begin with, but they were and now it is what it is.
Equally so is that if those who are pro-disqualify should simply not vote for those shots that they feel should not be in the final. Simplification at it's very simplest!
But by the same token, I feel that posting gripe after moan after gripe after moan is probably more than a little disheartening to the Mods that take time out to put this together for us every month, let alone solicit a prize for the winner.
I am sure it takes more than a bit of time and effort to do all of this.....all voluntary and unpaid.
I, for one, am truly grateful for all the efforts that go into maintaining the whole of Simviation. It is really a nice place to share common interests with a lot of talented and intelligent individuals all over the World!
Since having the privilege of joining and participating on this site, flightsim has taken on a life of its own for me. A casual dalliance has become a part-time obsession.
Just ask my wife!
I will now step down and dismantle my pedestal.
Good luck to all entrants!

U4EA I agree with you about the Mods & Simv as a whole. Their great.
But I still think that the shots that involve cheating should be replaced by shots that conform to the rules so the people that read the rules & obeyed them get a chance to win.

In that case, I am now pulling my submission into this contest for violating the rules. Didn't know REX wasn't allowed when I submitted, but that is not a discussion matter now. It's not fair for those who did follow the rules and had their shot fully composed of freeware. You can't see the sky in my shot, but the water is composed of REX's
Sparkling
wave animation. Let's make this competition a fair game, and give those who followed the rules a fair chance.
Officially pulling my submission out of this contest.
Sorry for not doing it earlier. Thankyou, and good luck to all finalists.

Hey it's ok. You never had it written in the rules before. I get it. You noticed that a large number of people had aftermarket weather. It is not a big deal. I can adhere to the rules. I ,like many, read the rules to say no planes and no ground effects. And that's how it was worded. a lot of hollering from people about all this REX stuff. Need to calm down and remember that the issue was resolved. I think everyone FULLY understands the rules now and will adhere to them in the future. If you have a issue with someones submission then don't vote for it. There are many great submissions and I am sure some of you may have forgot, but this is all for fun.

Actually I didn't think they changed them because of me, but it is good to see you think i am that important to the thread. If you looked at the contest as a whole, many different people who are not new to the site, still thought it was ok till it was clarified.
So as we say in the firehouse, hop off your soap box before you fall off.

I really don't care if some people didn't know about the rule.
You still should be disqualified in my opinion.
BTW I don't care what you say in the "Firehouse" it doesn't make it any different you still are in the wrong.

yes I was wrong, and will be adhering to the rules in future contests. But the rules did not clearly state that weather was not allowed. That is the root of this issue.

I kind of understand your point of view, but I would have thought people would have figured out there was no payware allowed.
Anyway the rule has always been here they just wrote it down because people didn’t figure out that payware wasn’t allowed.

You would think that the phrase, "Use of ANY payware is not permitted" would be sufficient enough for one to understand that any type of payware(aircraft, scenery, weather, what ever it maybe) is NOT allowed in a DEFAULT/FREEWARE screenshot contest.

Agreed, people are saying it wasn't clear. I'm sorry but it really was it said any payware. Obviously that means if u pay for it and add it to fsx then u can't use it.

FIREMAN79 just a tip for you, maybe turn your graphics settings up & turn Anti-Alias on, you only need 1 FPS for a screenshot.

We need a revote withouth the REX shots and with the non-rex shots that would've made it.

FIREMAN79 just a tip for you, maybe turn your graphics settings up & turn Anti-Alias on, you only need 1 FPS for a screenshot.

It's not going to be the last screenshot contest; the rules stated no payware so people should obey that rule.
We are just asking for a re-vote, not for the competition to stop.

Yeah, but there's pretty good odds that the people who donate the prizes are gonna look at 3 pages of nasty sniping, and pull out of supporting SimV. Inadvertent use of payware or no, this month's contest isn't exactly overloaded with decorum. Right from the word go, this has been nothing but a litany of complaints, personal sniping, and arguments. It's frigging embarrasing.
If I was one of the prize donors, a company that worked hard to develop an add-on that justified a $40 pricetag, an add-on that I was willing to give away for free just to say "thank you" to the this one particular segment of the community, the repainters, the modellers, the fans... THIS particular contest would be the end. 30 solid days of people bitching about REX, payware, how 2 out of 3 shots need to be disqualified, how the whole thing needs to be scrapped and revoted upon... jesus, this is like watching the Bush-Gore Florida election all over again. It's embarrasing to us, to SimV, and the prize donors. It's just embarrasing period.
No, the people who inadvertently used REX should not be allowed to participate. But s**t happens, and they were. There weren't that many good entries. It's kinda like the baseball hall of fame, circa 1992. You gotta work with what you got. There was still no need for this to turn into a slamfest. As has been said earlier, the Rex shots aren't even competative in this poll.
Should the rules be tightened and made more specific? Yes. Is it, on the other hand, incredibly easy to screw up and take a shot with REX? Yes. Should all of us have spent 3 pages of this thread honking at each other? No. Are the companies that donate the prizes for this contest as a promotion proud of how we have behaved? No.
I'm actually in with a shot here. I know it isn't that great, but I was pleased as hell with my pic. The best bit is, I won last month, so if I actually won here, I was gonna give it away to whoever finished next.
Now I'm just embarrassed. I don't care if I had a shot at winning or not. Thanks to the childish bickering, I wish I hadn't posted at all. I'd frigging pull out if it wasn't for the fact that all this stupid arguing has caused enough trouble for the mods.
Not bad... cheesed off the prize donors, the mods, the judges, and most of the participants. Destroyed the entire contest. Whee, I'm so glad I took part.
Gawd.

Pleased to be chosen again. Putting the shot together and getting my imagination together on a screenshot is extremely satisfying. Getting into the top ten is a great bonus.

Wow no votes for me! Less votes than people who totally broke the rules .....that's fair. I won't bother in future.
Also Adrianmonk if I was a developer I would be furious that my donated products were going to people who have cheated in a competition.
Rules are rules. If u have 5 good players and 1 terrible one it doesn't justify the fact the 5 good took steroids. What a stupid agreement.
And not to sound like a sore loser but the least 2 imaginative entries scores the highest ! Neither are anything futuristic or even something we've not seen a million times before. It was the same last month, the shot that came second was a far superior shot.
Screw this it's not worth the effort.

Ok Dave, the contest description said anything that first flew or is still flying in the 21st Century. Hobo's photo is very imaginative because both the B-52 and KC-135 have been in continuous active service for over 50s years with the original operator, the United States Air Force and are slated to continue their service for at least ten more years or more.

B52 first flew in the 20th Centenary not the 21st, out of the two Hobos is the better but it still missed the point, the other is a 747 landing.....not like there's not 500 shots of that on here.

While there are plenty of 747s out there, this one was built (and or revamped) in the 21st century, for the 21st century. Delivering parts for Boings new Dreamliner.....In this century.....Did I miss the point of the contest?

Or perhapse I would of faired better posting the police car from Blade Runner? I kept my shot within the realm of today....The 21st century, keeping within it the theme on which this months contest was based. I feel everybodys shots here were great. I also have never, and will never say anything negative about anyones images on this forum. While I understand your upset, I don't feel there is a need to belittle the rest of the finalists here. I have never been a finalist here. The next time I am might be months or even a year or two. I made it and my father was proud of me,so was my wife. Just something I do did and will continue to do for the pure enjoyment of it. So,thanks Dave. Thanks for destroying this for me,this one little moment,in the 21st century........

I think that the two top shots fit the theme very nicely. Great job Global Hobo and Mike
We have a tie, so th ere will have to be a tie-breaker. I'll try to get it set up by the end of today.
Great job everyone....thanks foe entering.

"Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth and danced the skies on laughter silvered wings. Sunward I've climbed and joined the tumbling mirth of sun split clouds.....and done a hundred things you have never dreamed of.....wheeled and soared and swung high in the sunlit silence. Hovering there, I've chased the shouting wind along and flung my eager craft through footless halls of air.
Up, up the long, delerious, burning blue I've topped the wind swept heights with easy grace where never Lark, nor even Eagle flew. While with silent lifting of mind I've trod the high untrespassed sanctity of space, put out my hand and touched the face of god"
