Hard to believe that since 1972, when Eddy Merckx set the record of 49.431 kph to the current record, set by Ondřej Sosenka in 2005 at 49.700 kph, that the speed differential is only 27/100ths of a kilometer per hour! Too bad Sosenka tested positive for meth 3 years later and was banned by the UCI, which ended his career.
