I have the AFG PC-12 and have flown it for a year or so now.  One problem that I always seem to have is on startup the plane redlines and even with the brake on it tends to go crazy.  Ive tried to add a little reverse throttle, speed brake, lower the condition lever etc.  Sometimes the plane goes crazy and I am stuck doing circles on the ramp until it calms down.

Anyone have any suggestion.

Here is my startup:

Battery On
Fuel Switch--Both
Fuel boost--On
Ignition--on
Starter--engaged
Fuel--On
Rodeo--Game on!

Are you perchance, using a twist Joystick, with throttle control?
If so, do your centralise all the joystick and throttle controls by rotating them all to extremes of travel, after firing up the Computer and Flight Sim?
I have to do that with my Saitek Cyborg Evo Force Joystick every time, to stabilise everything, otherwise the aircraft has a mind of its own on the runway, and goes crazy!

I have the same issue with turbo props......if they have two engines, they'll do a circle in each direction (one way, then the other) uncontrollably. It started happening to me after installing the C-27 from Iris Huh

Sunward I've climbed and joined the tumbling mirth of sun split clouds.....and done a hundred things you have never dreamed of.....wheeled and soared and swung high in the sunlit silence. Hovering there, I've chased the shouting wind along and flung my eager craft through footless halls of air.

Up, up the long, delerious, burning blue I've topped the wind swept heights with easy grace where never Lark, nor even Eagle flew. While with silent lifting of mind I've trod the high untrespassed sanctity of space, put out my hand and touched the face of god"

You are adding fuel too early.

Make sure the fuel is at cutoff when you first start up. When you hit the ignition and/or starter switches, you'll start to see an N1 needle rise. Keep fuel system at cutoff.
When N1 gets to around 10-11%, then add fuel into the mix.

Right now, you may be hot starting the engine, and FS, not having a hot-start damage system built in, simply will overboost the engine on startup when that happens, leading to what you are describing. Just be patient as the engine starts up, wait until around 10% N1, then introduce fuel.

When you do this, the engine should start up nice and gently, and you may not even need to have your brakes applied!

I am!  A Saitek X52 Pro.  At what point in the startup do you centralise the joystick?  Does this have to be done everytime you start the plane?

@Fozzer--This happens to me in the FSX 208B too.  Its REALLY annoying

Thanks I'll give it a shot!

Worked!  Now I can start next to buildings, instead of in open fields without obstructions to run into

Hello d...

Yep...every time I fire up my computer and Flight Sim,  I have to rotate my joystick (the flightsim one!.. Wink.. Wink...) around all its axis, fully twist in both directions, press the fire (brake) button, and rotate the throttle a few times to centralise everything before starting up the engines on the ground.

It seems to be necessary for certain makes of joystick!

Paul...an old stick-in-the-mud!... Cool...!
