Continuing my holiday adventures in the Caribbean with Mr Benjamin Counter from Episode 1: /yabb?num=1328257355

We spent a blissful week on St Kitts - but one day it had to end...with a 6am call from Mr Counter 'Hey Krigl... you know this white gold we picked up in Haiti is really something...'
'What?' I managed, flailing for the light switch...
'Oh, nothing' said Ben. 'Look, I was just watching YouTube and I saw a great landing on St Barts there...the pilot took his passengers all the way down to the beach. No need for customs and passport control. We're going to do that today in the Goose - we leave in 15 minutes.'
'Er...?'  Click.
I quickly fired up my laptop and checked it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-z2o0acIlm4  Oof. Not funny. Looks like they got out okay - hope so anyway. Landing in the Goose would be a daunting prospect but what Mr Counter wants, he gets.

Half an hour later we were airborne in the early morning with a lovely view of Sint Eustatious and Saba before heading off to St Barts for our appointment with fear. Counter and his secretary were in a highly boyant and animated mood, and had disappeared very rapidly into the back of the Goose. I didn't notice her wearing any new jewellery. What gold?

Well, there it was.... setting up and stabilising the approach is even more important than usual at a place like this.

...

I must admit my nerves got the better of me and I totally fluffed the approach. As the ground rushed up to meet us I quickly reached out and turned collisions off...

...

Ohhhh.........good job I did....

...

.....ohhowowowowow........4R5E!!!

...

We were shaken but not badly stirred and my passengers eventually got to the beach, mood seemingly undented, just like the plane.

After clearing things up with the police - how we'd survived the fifteen somersaults, why the plane was smoking but undamaged etc. I went to watch the Winair pros showing how it's done...

...

...

Nice one lads... nothing wrong with a bit of a float now and again - better than grinding the nose into the tarmac anyway. I wonder why that cross is there though... a sobering thought.

...

Hope you enjoyed  Smiley

Great shots Cool

Is that Fly Tampa scenery?
I've been wanting some good St. Barts scenery ever since I saw the airport on a documentary.

"Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth and danced the skies on laughter silvered wings. Sunward I've climbed and joined the tumbling mirth of sun split clouds.....and done a hundred things you have never dreamed of.....wheeled and soared and swung high in the sunlit silence. Hovering there, I've chased the shouting wind along and flung my eager craft through footless halls of air.

Up, up the long, delerious, burning blue I've topped the wind swept heights with easy grace where never Lark, nor even Eagle flew. While with silent lifting of mind I've trod the high untrespassed sanctity of space, put out my hand and touched the face of god"

Cheers for the comments! Both FlyTampa's St Maarten (+St Barts+Saba) scenery and Kai Tak are amazing works of the FS developer's art and are something quite special. I'm sure their other, more standard airports are also good but these two are standouts because they offer something more than just a detailed airport environment. St Maarten can be combined with FlyTampa's Grenadines package, which I don't own and have no idea about, but it's in the region, + freeware mesh and other stuff in the Caribbean (seaplane tours etc) and it's a great place to fly, especially in Aerosoft's Twin Otter. Kai Tak is simply Kai Tak...that approach is unbeatable... but the modelling of Hong Kong is also stunning  Smiley

I also have Grenadines but I found it more FPS-hungry than St Maarten/Saba/St Barts. To me the latter is just the best out of the two.
