Well I was just looking around for the Trenton airshow. I can't really seem to find much info about it.

I saw some archived news from a year or 2 ago, saying becuase of base upgrades, they won't have the money to put out their usual (awsome) airshow for the next 4 years or so. (that news being 2 years old)

So I was wondering if any of ya canuks know of any other airshows worth attending in southern ontario.

Personally I live in Lindsay, Ontario (not north bay anymore too bad because they put on a AWSOME airshow)

When I was a kid I went to Trenton and they had a great show!

I know there is a show at the CNE, but I don't know if that is worth going to. I love to get up close and personal with the aircraft, and I think its almost not worth going to if I can't get up close. Because thats half the fun! I love to talk to the pilots, and (if im lucky) hop into the cockpit of a F-18 (And pull the ejection handle Grin Cheesy Grin) just kidding.

But you kno what I mean!

I just hope there is somthing good like that around here! Its been a few years since I have been to a good show! My ears need a good blasting!

I am somwhere I don't know where I am!!!&&

Hi Michael... Smiley

The price to put on an airshow today is just awesome.

With the work going on at Canadian Forces Base Trenton which will make the base the largest I believe on this continent anywhere it is impractical to try and put on an airshow I would think.

The military has put on an Armed Forces Day which I do believe has some flying displays but it is not an airshow the way the Canadian National Exhibition is.
Lots of stuff to see though.

The Canadian War Plane Heritage puts on a great display at Hamilton Ontario so you might want to look up that site.
Probably a two hour drive for you one way.
Great place to visit also.   Smiley

I personally have never been to the CNE or its airshow, but since I just got a job at Buttonville, I think I may go to it this summer and check it out. Aside from the Hamilton show (which I've also never been to, but heard great things about) is the Kitchener show, which is usually in August I think. Last year they managed to get the Snowbirds out, as well as an F-16. The previous year they had a B-17 bomber from the US, and I know a long time ago they had managed to get the Lancaster from Hamilton. This past year was a great show, lots of great acts. Unfortunately, you can't get as up close and personal with some of these aircraft as you would like, but you can sit almost on top of the active taxiway, and there are plenty of booths and static displays to visit, usually coming from the Wings Over Canada group and the guys in Hamilton at the Warplane Museum. This past year again they also had some guys from a Museum in London. Now, I know Kitchener is a good ways away from Lindsay, but who doesn't like a good cross-country... or even a road trip, haha

Good morning SaultFresh... Smiley

There have been some rumours and we hope they are just rumours that Buttonville Airport will be closed to make room for condos and houses.

How true is that or do you have any information about that you could post?

I too have heard the rumours, long before I started working here, haha. Of course, it's only my first week on the job (well, end of the first week), so I haven't heard much. What I have heard is that no one seems to know much about what the future holds here at the airport. I've also heard anywhere between 2 to 5 years until it no longer exists :0( So, unfortunately, I don't know what the future holds. My boss doesn't even know what the future holds, haha. I do know that the flight school wants to expand their private sector by picking up more clients, and I know they want to stay in existence regardless of what happens to the airport. I've heard of things like relocating to Brampton, or Oshawa, or Peterborough. I've also heard of some land that was originally set aside to be developed into an airport around Pickering. For now, it seems like total speculation, but as far as I know, those threatening condos are more reality than rumour, haha.

Typically, they'll build around the airport and then complain about noise.  Tongue  CYKF is still in a more rural setting right now, but buildings are popping up at a steady pace.

They're already complaining around CYKF. My dad works with a guy who just moved in over there, he didn't realize how busy YKF actually is. And with the addition of AA, it's probably going to get busier. I hope that airport never ceases to exist though.
