More shots of Aerosoft's Antarctica add-on.
Headed to NZIR, McMurdo Station's ice runway which is used in the early season before the ice melts and forces aircraft to use landing strips farther to the South on permanent ice.
Flying over the "Ice Town", a bunch of
prefabricated towable buildings that serve as a
terminal, fire station, offices, hangars, navaids
and a tower.
Came in a little high.....landing on snow or ice can play tricks on your depth perception.
Taxiing.......the animated snow removal equipment is pretty cool.
You can see some of the McMurdo Station buildings nestled into the hillside in the distance.
Parking was a challenge.........due to the lack of brakes and an overzealous pair of turbo-props
Thanks 4 looking

"Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth and danced the skies on laughter silvered wings. Sunward I've climbed and joined the tumbling mirth of sun split clouds.....and done a hundred things you have never dreamed of.....wheeled and soared and swung high in the sunlit silence. Hovering there, I've chased the shouting wind along and flung my eager craft through footless halls of air.
Up, up the long, delerious, burning blue I've topped the wind swept heights with easy grace where never Lark, nor even Eagle flew. While with silent lifting of mind I've trod the high untrespassed sanctity of space, put out my hand and touched the face of god"

Wow...wonderful shots Chuck...well done...
What I liked about the real aircraft was the ability to back up into a parking spot and when putting her to bed all one did is plug in the two plastic covers on the engines...
Flew one a good many times with friends but the company would not pay for the check out even though we operated them.
That is what happens when you go union, the company stops paying for a lot of stuff even if you are a long time employee.
P.S. sorry Chuck...got off topic...it was all the fault of your pictures...
Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug

Chuck you sound like the old girl...
Just something I forgot to mention about your last shot:
The Twin Otter in the background is in the Wheel/Ski configuration (my type of aircraft) while the Twin Otter in the foreground is just in the ski configuration...
Most aircraft kitted out in the Wheel/Ski configuration the skis had three or more likely four settings.
-up....wheels only for landing...skis are fully up (retracted)
-3/4 ski...ski down
-1/2 ski...ski down
-Full Ski...skis only for landing...wheels are up (retracted)
Again great shots...
Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug

Looks a great add-on for a neglected part of the world in flightsim... are there any penguins waddling around?

Bummer! Well, one can imagine... An Emperor would make quite a (low-level) birdstrike.

Hi Chuck...
Take a look at my above reply please.
Now are both aircraft available to fly in those two different configurations...now that I might be interested in.
Especially the Wheel/Ski Twotter in the background....
Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug

Great shots.
Also, is the Twin Otter shown the same one that comes with the scenery (ski only)?

Thanks FT......I had the Aerosoft Twotter before I got this scenery, so I'm not sure......I think so though
Now I have to go searching for penguins
