I've been using Multigrab for a long time & it's been brilliant.
I have a new machine with Windows 7 Professional 64-bit.  I've installed MGrab & it's been working for the past 3 weeks without fail. However, I've started to get screenshots of the descktop & not the FS2004 view I want.  The fault is erratic.  Have anyone come across this poblem before & if so, what's the fix?

I note that you've tried other screengrab software with the same problem. I have no knowledge of Win7 so can't be much help. You might like to ask the man himself. http://www.mnwright.btinternet.co.uk/

Terry,

I installed MultiGrab on my Win 7 Home Premium-64bit and it works as advertised. Note that MultiGrab is not a 'screen capture' utility as such, but simply 'grabs' screen shots from the clipboard when you capture them by some other means.

Are you using the <Print Screen> key for your capture? If so, is it...
(1) capturing the FS window  and the desktop surrounding it?...Or is it......
(2)  capturing the whole desktop with no FS window?

If (1) then try using <Alt+Print Screen>. This will capture only the 'active window'. Make sure that FS is the 'active window' (top bar in FS window should be blue, not grey).

If (2) then you might be inadvertently hitting <Print Screen> when FS is minimized.

If this doesn't help then posting an example or 2 of the of the 'errant' screenshots might help.

If you're using some other utility to perform the screen capture could you name it. The problem could be caused by your settings in that utility.

Sorry, don't know of any fix, but some comments:

I also have Win 07 Home Premium, no probs with Multigrab.  I use it for many different applications, very handy.  Press Printscreen and it's done.

What's odd here is that you said it was working OK at first.

I think you only need to hit printscreen to get it to work, but try dave3cu's tips anyway.

Hello all,

I've got Mgrab in Vista & XP & after installing both used the Print Screen...been doing this for a few years now! I run FS in full-screen mode.
I got it into W7 & it got me 6 FS screenshots before the desktop appeared. I tried FSScreen & SnapShot with the same result.

In answer to your questions Dave: In W7 it did 5 or 6 fullscreen grabs & then just the desktop, using Print Screen.
I'm not sure what you mean by 'minimized.'

Hagar: I've heard from Martin Wright: 'The problem when trying to grab screens from games is that they may be displaying not on the windows screen but on an overlay that is stored at a different location. Each new operating system (and DirectX) gets cleverer with the way it handles the display with multiple buffers and overlays and what you are seeing on your screen is not necessarily what is currently held in the standard screen buffer.'

My Mgrab settings are the same in Vista & XP.....I've tried changing between BMP & JPEG but that doesn't help.....

It works with your V7 though?

I could try Alt/Print.....& windowed mode I suppose.....?

Try this; it's just a test, but might indicate some other sort of problem going on:

Printscreen>Then open 'Paint'>Paste>Save As>

Save it as a jpeg.

If it works, well, it's a tedious way to capture screen shots, takes awhile, but just try it and see.

I use Paint sometimes for one shot items.

Again, no probs with MGrab in Win07.

We're rootin' for ya, but this is an odd problem.

I had the same issue with GrabClipSave when I started using W7-64. Now I use the free version of Fraps for grabbing screen shots via the PrtSc key, and it works fine.

The free version of Fraps saves as bitmaps but if you have a paid version then you can select jpg.

Good luck.

Have you changed anything on your computer (For example, Windows updates) recently? Also, have you tried running Mgrab as an administrator?
