And it would be less expensive than repainting all the business and street signs the world over.

Yes, but for sign-makers like myself business like this is a godsend.  Name changes, logo changes (color and/or shape) mean $$$ to me.  Last a year a company (shall remain unnamed) changed the color of their logo.  I happen to make the vehicle graphics for said company and I received a goodly sum of $ to just make the graphics and send them to branch offices.  If it weren't for this company I would have had a really bad year! Wink  The same goes for signs.

Whilst we are on a similar subject, can someone explain to me the difference between the following statements...

"I should have got the earlier Bus"
"I should have gotten the earlier Bus"

"I should have got a loaf of Bread"
"I should have gotten a loaf of Bread"

...etc...

Got and Gotten?

Paul...I have got/gotten a nasty cold... Cry...!

You can't always got get what you want, but if you try sometimes you got get what you need. Cheesy Cheesy

According to the tip from my link it should be perfectly straightforward.  In American English gotten is the past participle of the verb get. Simple!
As you state... thus in eternal wedlock with the adverbial modifier (had/have).

I don't think too many Americans understand this. Perhaps they're as confused as we are.
Aye, but you were the progenitors of the confusion. This was your form of grammar at the time your North American colonies revolted; as I once told Foz, we didn't change it --  you did!

Cool
