Good evening all... Smiley

Just got this electronic gizmo back after two weeks waiting for the new video card to be replaced which I bought back in October I think...no charge...much thanks to them.

However I have downloaded MoCats Snow Dog Tours 2 (not the V or Juneau).

I believe it is the largest version on the Simviation Scenery Download site.

Well I have done everything it asks and also did a redownload to make sure.

-Extracted to new folder and not to FSX
-It shows in the FSX Scenery Addons but when I try to install it in the Scenery Library it will not install.
-When I delete it I get a Scenery CFG Error in some location.

Not sure what I am doing wrong as I have done it the same way with the other scenery addons with no problem.

Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug

Hmmm... I remember installing it once before I cleared out my FS, and I had got it in right, though I've never tried it.  I'll re-download and see if I can figure it out. Wink

Edited:
Shocked Oooh...  Whoops.  Forgot how many downloads it was, and I don't have one of those "express memberships", so it may be about 2 hours or so before I get to it.   Sad

I think i might have found one part of the problem.  What the heck happened to part four?!?
There's V2.0 (which replaces I), II, III, V, but no IV.

I found it in the FlightSim File Library, along with Part V, "The North Pole".

The Readme for v2.0 says it replaces all previous versions, and that if you have a previous version you need to delete it.

Hope this Helps!

FOUND IT!!!
there are a few problems, which I found how to fix.

Make sure you have these:
1.  In your FSX's addon scenery folder, there should be two new folders, "Snow Dog Tours", and "SDT_Object_Library"
2.  In your FSX's Addon Scenery folder there should be a folder called "scenery", and another one called "texture".  They should be empty and have nothing in it, unless you have specifically dragged and dropped stuff in, and if you have, just leave it there.  These two folders are not inside any sub folder.

Here's what you do.
1.  Go into both the SDT_Object_Library folder and the Snow Dog Tours folder's scenery folders, and copy every single file.
2.  Paste them in the empty scenery folder I told you about above.
3.  Go in the SDT_Object_Library's texture folder and copy every file.
4.  Paste them in the empty texture folder I told you about above.
5.  MOVE the SDT_Object_Library and Snow Dog Tours folders somewhere else like you desktop.
6.  Start FSX.
7.  Go to your scenery library, and make sure the "Addon Scenery" folder that is ALREADY IN THERE is checked.
8.  Delete the scenery part that the installer put in called SDT_Object_Library.
9.  Save the changes to your Scenery Library.
10.  Close FSX.
11.  Start FSX and let it build it's new scenery database.
12.  Go to the airport in Anchorage called "Hood Lake"
13.  If the install was successful, there should be something that looks like a metal fence in the shape of an L with a truck inside the L.  If that's not there, the install probably didn't work right and let me know so I can try to figure it out.

Hope that helps! Smiley

Please explain to me the difference between what you suggest and simply verifying that "Snow Dog Tours", and "SDT_Object_Library" are both active in the Scenery Library?

What exactly does all the file movement fix?

cheers,
Joe

I even tried it myself, and it just wouldn't go in.
But by moving the files to an already active location, you don't have to worry about that.  Since FSX hasn't registered the new files before, though they are acting like they are supposed to be there, it just make a new database accordingly, and runs as normal. Wink Smiley
Simple programming and mathematics.  You haven't changed the programming.  You change the input, therefore you change the output.

There has to be a reason for that. By doing what you suggest you risk a conflict between different versions of the same area.

Which version of the scenery are you having problems with?

? Huh
This Snow dog tours (The V2.0) is the only scenery I've downloaded for FSX.  And since the addon scenery's main scenery and texture folder are empty, there shouldn't be much chance of conflict I hope.

I think there's a simple explanation for your problem. If you installed the scenery manually or with the installer you should have a folder named Snow Dog Tours in your FSX\Addon Scenery directory. This contains 2 sub-folders named SDT_Object_Library & Ketchikan Alaska respectively. These are the folders that should be activated (in that order) from the FSX Scenery Library.

If you try activating the Snow Dog Tours folder it won't work.

Hi Doug... Smiley

I have the two folders alright but when I try to add them to the Scenery Library they will not take.

I tried to install the SDT Folder first but no go and the second folder the Snow Dog Tours Folder which has a scenery folder inside it will not install either.

Seems to me I had this problem once before.

Not sure why the Auto Installer will not do it automatically.

Thanks for the responses folks... Smiley

Doug. If I recall correctly you're using Windows7. The procedure for activating scenery is slightly different. Check out this video. http://iblueyonder.com/video-tutorial-adding-scenery-to-fsx-in-windows-7/

Thanks Doug that worked... Smiley

That Link should be posted somewhere if it is not already for all to use... Smiley

Now I just did a quick flight out of Ketchecan Alaska with the default Beaver.

I am getting black buildings with some good graphics on the boats, cargo and some ships.

My graphics card is a:
NVIDIA Ge Force GTX 580

I was just told that my graphics card is too far advanced for that program which is about two or three years old I think. (2008)

That does not make any sense to me but perhaps the person is right.

Any input would be most appreciated.
