Thanks!
As to how I did it:
My image editors. If ypu want the file pic used, here you go.
http://www.simviation.com/phpupload/uploads/1324571871.jpg
Here's how to put it in your sim:
1. Make a backup copy of your FSX's texture folder
2. Save the picture somewhere on your computer as a bitmap image.
3. In whichever one you're going to put in, go in and replace the images called "runway26" and "runway27" with the lava image. (This changes the ice and snow runways)
4. Open the new two images in DXTbmp and save them as Extended bitmap, 256 colors
5. Put the texture folder in your main FSX folder.
6. Go in your FSX and somewhere with a snow and/or ice runway like antarctica and have fun burning your landing gear to smithereens!

I think you might be a little less enthusiastic about your method after you find out that it melts the asphalt in addition to the ice!

Who said the runway was asphalt? I'm up delivering cruicial supplies up to Base Mariambo in Antarctica! It's only ice and snow up there! (with the addition of lava of course!
) Plus, there's dirt underneath a few thousand feet of ice anyway.

Have you ever wondered what a over-loaded 747-400 with 70% fuel does when it lands on ice? It slips. A LOT. brakes are completely ineffective there. The only thing you have to slow you down is induced drag, speedbrakes, and reverse thrusters.
And it also breaks right through the ice.
Water on the other hand, when created by the melting of the ica, will either deep-freeze and completely harden any cracks, plus, if there's any left on touchdown, will help slow it down by giving friction from the water.
There's a method to my madness. ALWAYS.

You are landing a 747-400 on ice why???
Seems like more of a job for a LC-130 to me.
And why would you be landing with 70% fuel?

Well, fly her in the right setup on the right path from the right distance, that's what I got. And due to unpredicted icing, temperature and pressure changes, I didn't know how much I'd need, so I just filled the tanks. Plus you never know when an engine could fail.

Yes, I suppose better safe than sorry.
Where were you landing anyway?
Looks a little like McMurdo.

It was either Base Mariambo or McMurdo. It's the third one of whichever one has three with the same name.

A 747.
I think anyone else would have taken
this.
Although if you were afraid of ditching in the ocean you could have taken
this.

last time I checked, I had been flying crucial supplies for a private research company here, not the military.
But those look cool! C130's? And where did you get them?
