I bought a Cyborg FLY 5 and am pretty happy with it considering the price.....however, not long after I installed an FSX profile from Saitek/Madcatz for this stick, a few of the buttons do not respond, most notably the #3 button on the thumb panel that's supposed to retract flaps.....but the profile test tells me it is working. What might be going on here?

Another button tells me in the profiler that it engaged/disengages lights but instead it toggles aircraft views....am I missing some esoteric knowledge of this stuff?

I would think its much safer to scroll through the Flight Sim drop-down Menu, button "Assignments", and set the button assignments on the Joystick to your preference...
..that's what I do... Smiley...!

As Paul said make your own profiles. I also made my own diagrams of each profile I made so I don't forget my own button assignments. (FSX tubes, FSX props, FS9, CFS 2, IL2, and others.) And don't forget to turn on the profile before you fire up the sim or the stick will only operate on its default settings if at all.

I remember having big troubles with my joystick.
had the upper half of my throttle being rudder left, my right aileron be throttle to 50%, my left aileron being elevator, and I'm pretty sure I had my elevators as my ailerons and I couldn't figure out how the heck to fix it.  I checked everything and it was registerign correctly, but it didn't fix.
I eventually figured out how to reset it back to factory default settings, which fixed everything. Try factory settings if it's able to do that.  Also make sure you have it plugged in before you start FS.

Hope that helps! Wink

I really cant see what the problem is?... Wink..!

I NEVER bother with using the silly CD that comes with a new Joystick...
After purchase, I just plug it in, switch the computer on, and let Mr Windows locate my "New Plug-and-Play Hardware", and automatically install it for me.
Its then recorded as being available for all games, etc.
For each program I run, I just go through the various button assignments and configure them suit myself.
...and that's the way they stay in the program, until I modify them again... Kiss...!
I have never found that daft; "Profiler/Installer CD" program that comes with the new Joystick to be of any use at all!

Just let Mr. Windows install your new hardware, (he's good at that!), and then do your own profiling!... Grin...!

Ummm....  If that was to me, mine didn't come with any disk, and I fixed it about 3 months ago... Roll Eyes

If that was to schaalman, He said it was working perfectly to begin with, so that means it was installed correctly, and that it eventually went haywire like mine did, and I never messed with the settigns or configurations, and he didn't mention doing that either. Tongue

Funny old do...
If it hadn't been a brand-new Joystick, I would have suspected that it was faulty....
...maybe it still is?

Does it work in Windows; Joystick "Properties" test program?

Win 7:
Start > Devices and Printers > Joystick > Game Controllers > Settings > Properties....

That may show up something... Roll Eyes...!
