Hello all,

A bout 2 month ago, I purchased a new PC (HP 1021fr) with a i7 2600 cpu @ 03,40 Ghz 3,40 Ghz, I guess it's a dual core, With Windows 7 Premium family edition 64 Bits) and 6 GBytes of ram The Video Card is not the top of the pop's, but seems to be in high range anyway considering it is not a "hand made " PC.
Anyway, I don't think that FXX can autmatically select a core or run on both, so I would like to download a utility software that would allow me to run FSX on a dedicated core to maximize performance. I could find some but the were dedicated to Win XP or Vista, Win 7 not being mentioned in the list of compatibility.

Can one of you expert guys, recommend a software (freeware would be welcome, but I can also spend some Euros on that.

Regards,

Jean-Francois. Shocked

In FSX SP2 ALL cores are selected when loaded.
runaff is a app to set cores on most programs but never tried in on FSX.

you could 'google' your processor to try and find out how many cores or:
right click on task bar, click on start task manager, on the processes tab, right click any process and click on set affinity, it will show how many cores you have and which are being used, boot up fsx and choose the fsx.exe to see which cores it's using

Your processor has 4 cores and all will automatically be used. Don't make it run on less, it will hurt performance not increaseit.

Wow! that's good to know- that it won't increase it.

ARE there any settings that maximize quad cores???

Make sure you have SP2 or Acceleration installed.

If you want an online script that automatically does a lot of tweaks for you read this thread:

If you want to do things manually, which will probably give better results, you can also  read this:

/yabb?num=1318889338/7#7

and the stickies at the top of this thread
