I would love to learn how to make effects for FSX aircraft(like how to add flares or smoke). So if you can help me it will be greatly appreciated.

I know nothing about how to make effects, but there are flare and various other effects that you can download from Simviation.

Go into Controls, select Smoke System, and then click "Add New Assignment" (or something similar) - that should keep the ability to use "I" for activating the smoke system, while letting you change key/button.

No not that  Cheesy How can I change it when the flares shoot out other that pressing the smoke button because I have another plane which uses the smoke button for another need so can I change it?

You want to be able to have an individual "Release Flares" command?

Yes.

You can activate individual smoke.n=X,Y,x,y,some_smoke_effect.fx entries by sending the
appropriate SMOKE_ON key event with the parameter that id the smoke entry number (n above)
plus 1. If you want to activate entry 5, then the XML code would be

6 (>K:SMOKE_ON)
The smoke event can also be turned off the same way:

6(>K:SMOKE_OFF)

If you have the registered version of FSUIPC4 you can assign a keystroke or button/switch
to send the command with the appropriate parameter.

If you want to learn a little on flares and their placement try doing a search for " Nicks smoke "

I did a freeware  panel package ' fxpiggb5.zip ' for the F-111, included in that package were a set of flares and some notes.
the flares eject at 45 degrees from the aircraft ans are left and right handed. there are sets comprising of : 1 No, 4 No, 8 No or 60 seconds continuous per each hit of the switch.
The flare has a bright startup then flare head and smoke trail, it has a die out colour, flare lasts approx 11 second.
My favorites are the 8 per switching , it leaves a great trail.
There is also a flare switch on the panel that could be transfered to your aircraft of choice.
There are screenshots of the flares being issued in that zip that can be viewed prior to downloading.
I also did a missile effect, bombs,  engine  exhaust smoke trail, and Dump and Burn for the zip.

Cheers
Karol

1.This is the download file I referred to as Nick's smoke,
njs_final.zip
It is available here at simviation and at Avsim.
The notes are well worth reading.
2. I use an old FS2004 Microsoft SDK which probably will be available through the FS Developer website.
3. The  x, y and z referred to previously are just co ordinates to attach the effect to your aircraft,
Basically :-  front-rear, left -right, up-down
relative to the aircrafts centre.
4. your effects can be in either the "Smoke" or "Lights" section of the aircraft cfg.
5. You can open and read both the aircraft cfg and each individual  "EFFECT" with notepad.
6. Effects can be triggered or switched on either by an xml instrument or by a common light switch.

Cheers
Karol
