...for the first time in 12+ years of MS Flight simming, following the viewing of the Justflight, free, Boeing 757 for FSX, today I left my little Cessna 150 in its Hangar, donned my Captains suit, placed my Captains hat nonchalantly on my head, and entered the world of my FS 2004 Boeing 757...>>>

My first ever flight in a Commercial, Passenger, Aluminium Cigar tube!

FS 2004...>>>

...

Took off from San Francisco International airport (KSFO), followed the Pacific Coast, radio navigating from VOR to VOR, to finally land at Los Angeles International airport (KLAX)!

The flight went surprisingly well, and quite quickly, cruising at 325 knots on full Autopilot.

I need to add one or two useful/vital! bits and bobs to my instrument panel tho'...

Pitot Heat switch (Pitot Tube iced-up during the flight, and no switch!)
Wing de-ice switch.
Air Brake position indicator.
OAT gauge. (Outside Air Temperature).

...and I need to install my full Bendix-King Radio stack for full radio control.

..and one or two other bits and pieces, as I feel the need for them, with my FS Panel Studio!

Paul....Now for the return trip...(to my little Cessna 150!)... Grin...!

Thanks, Doug... Smiley....
My first ex-Wife was a keen participant in that experience... Wink...!

.... Grin....!

The complexity of a Boeing passenger jet's controls, confirmed the benefits of using a 2D Cockpit Panel....

...everything in one place...and no scrolling around desperately trying to locate an elusive switch, somewhere in a Virtual 3D Cockpit!... Wink... Smiley...!

It might not be realistic, but its very practical!.... Grin..!

I made the return journey back to KSFO with no drama, and I didn't lose any passengers en-route...which is always very satisfying!.... Smiley...!

...I might to it again..tomorrow... Smiley...!

Paul...Heavy...for a change!.. Grin...!

I don't find myself flying tubes very often either, Paul............this one is very nice though Cool Cool

"Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth and danced the skies on laughter silvered wings. Sunward I've climbed and joined the tumbling mirth of sun split clouds.....and done a hundred things you have never dreamed of.....wheeled and soared and swung high in the sunlit silence. Hovering there, I've chased the shouting wind along and flung my eager craft through footless halls of air.

Up, up the long, delerious, burning blue I've topped the wind swept heights with easy grace where never Lark, nor even Eagle flew. While with silent lifting of mind I've trod the high untrespassed sanctity of space, put out my hand and touched the face of god"

Too true, Chuck... Wink...!

I generally prefer VFR flights at (very) low level in my light aircraft, admiring the scenery below!.... Kiss...!

But after noting the very impressive, free-bee, FSX Boeing 757 details from Justflight, (a reminder via Alrot), I downloaded and installed the  FSX version, without much success....
So I abandoned that one and downloaded and installed the FS 2004... Smiley...version instead, from Flightsim.... Northeast Airlines Boeing 757-200... ne757589.zip

Self installer (I think?)..all went in nicely, and I was immediately attracted to the 2D panel, to which I have added some very useful/vital bits and bobs via FS Panel Studio.

She flies very well, and even me, with my years of piston props, manage to take off, cruise (at low altitude!.. Wink...), and land the monster with no problems....(the height of the 2D panel often necessitates using the mini-panel view during the last few  minutes!).

One just has to remember that she needs quite a long runway for take-off, and she is not really happy, (unlike my Cessna 150), with grass, Farm Strips... Wink...!
...and, of course, cruising at 325 knots does tend to eat up the miles fairly rapidly... Cheesy...!

A Passenger Jet with a Female Flight Attendant.
I'm going to spend some more time today getting used to her....
...including the Aircraft... Wink... Wink...!

Wonderful stuff... Smiley...!

Paul...All aboard Eastern Airlines...for the flight/fright of your life!

My modified 2D Panel.... Cool...>>>  http://www.simviation.com/phpupload/uploads/1320959322.jpg
P.S...I also installed my Bendix-King full Radio Stack, which makes the world of difference!

What does that red number above the backup attitude indicator control?

Another handy gauge that I fit to all my aircraft...

Digital Radio Altimeter.

Very handy for low and slow/fast flyers!

Its always nice to know how close you are to the ground below you....before you collide with it...trust me!... Grin...!

Paul.... Grin...!

Another very useful gauge, above the Radio: A gauge to show a visual indication of the position of the Wheels, Flaps, and Air Brake...so that you don't forget!...(from an F-16)... Wink...!

Never fear...

Its only a temporary aberration, Mark.. Wink...

...I just lost my way in the darkness... Undecided...!

Tomorrow I will return again to my hangar full of exciting aeroplanes..(including my trusty C150 Aerobat).... Kiss...!

Paul..Leather Helmet, Goggles and Silk Scarf again... Cool...!

I don't know why, but about 50 percent of my flights are in a big boeing, usually either the 747-400 or the 737-400.  You get used to the 3D cockpit sooner or later. Smiley

I constantly get told off for using the 2D panel view... Cry...!

But I do prefer it for lots of reasons... Kiss...

(a) It shows everything I need, all contained in one static view.
(b) Many of them can be resized, (lowered), improving the view forward.
(c)....I like 2D panels... Grin...!
(d) And there are probably more reasons, when I think of them...

Paul...in 2D mode.... Smiley...!

P.S...(e) I've just remembered...They are also easy-peasy to modify, using FS Panel Studio!... Smiley...!
