Hello chums... Smiley...!

FS 2004:

Just a quick query!.. Smiley...

In some of my aircraft, when in (VC) Virtual Cockpit Mode, I often find that I am either sat too low, or too high on the seat in the Cockpit.
It can be corrected in flight by using the key combinations:
Shift + Delete = Move up.
Shift + Enter = Move down.

The trouble is, after changing views, the position generally reverts back to the design default again!... Sad...!

Whereabouts, and which are the entries in the "aircraft.cfg" file, to set, and save, the preferred seat position permanently for that particular aircraft?

Many thanks!... Wink...!

Paul...with inflatable cushions!.. Cool...!

Paul, your seat height adjusted has packed up again! Re-stack the bricks where the castors are missing Wink

..... Grin....!

I find that with increasing age, I am slowly getting shorter in the "body department", Mark....

And trying to peer over the instrument panel to see where I am going, is getting more and more difficult, as each year passes... Cry...!

Selecting various thickness cushions for each flight is becoming far too complicated, I fear!

Paul.... Wink... Wink... Wink...!

Look under the [views] section in Aircraft.cfg. The eyepoint height is defined by the entry in red.

[Views]
eyepoint= -3.95, -0.85,
2.1
      //(feet) longitudinal, lateral,
vertical
distance from reference datum

I've done it a hundrewd times but still can't be sure -- but I thinks it's the 3rd entry (def not 1st with is forward/backward)

eyepoint=-32.500, -2.000, 11.100

You will know that before editing you have to exit the aircraft & choose another ..
Best way to edit is copy whole entry & paste in next line with '//' at start so FS will not read it. (then you still have original ... )

Then make small edits & the pain of reloading the a/c to see what the change is. You will find VERY small changes make a noticeable difference. In FSX/W7 you often have to close down the whole program & restart to see the change ..... It's been years since I've used FS9 but I think it was easy to see the change just by reloading the a/c

I am suprised to hear you asking this question about VC, I thought you were one of the last bastions around for 2d cockpits  Roll Eyes .......for some like yourself who is clearly addicted to flightsimming  Cheesy and is now moving beyond FS2000 standards to use VC......might I suggest you seriously consider trackir......you will never look back.

.... Grin... Grin...!

Never fear, Rom... Wink... Wink...!

I must admit I do have the occasional brain storm, and pop into the Virtual Cockpit, when on Base, and I am desperately searching for the runway out of my left window... Wink...!
...but you will be pleased to know, that at all other times I stick rigidly to my 2D Cockpit(s), which I heavily modify (fill with useful things!), with my FS Panel Studio.... Kiss...!

...and, of  course, I have to annoy the dedicated Virtual Cockpit Users with my love of 2D stuff... Cheesy...!

Track IR?... Roll Eyes...Something to do with Train Sims?.... Roll Eyes... Wink... Grin...!

Paul...When I turn around in 2D mode, I disappear... Cool...!

P.S....and its nice being a bit of a Bastion!... Wink... Grin..!

Fozzer,
I have a Gauge .cab file that I downloaded with a Baby Bach from http://www.dmflightsim.co.uk/ that contains an eyepoint gauge that I add to all my 2D & the VCs when I can. It allows me to change the eyepoint up & down with the click of the  mouse. Call me lazy, but anything to make life a little easier. Grin

Hello, Hippy... Smiley...

I downloaded the BAC 111 Panel file containing the gauges into a separate folder.

...I just need to identify that particular gauge out of the zillions of gauges in the folder!

Do you mean to tell me that you actually fly that BAC 111 Monster?...looking at that complex panel!

Paul....Cessna 150... Wink... Grin....!

Paul,
It's this one---gauge54=DM_1-11!eyepoint  Wink
And I haven't flown the monster in a long time.  My favorite tube is Moach's 737 Experience & I totally reworked the panel to suit my fancy. If you are interested, PM me & I'll email you a copy. If you like it I should post it.

Hello Hippy!.... Smiley...!

Ta for the gauge description! I will try it out using my FS Panel studio.
Do I want to use the BAC 111 (or similar)...?.... Roll Eyes...

...notice that I mentioned my little Cessna 150 in my Text... Wink...That is the most complex panel that I am prepared to look at during my flights... Wink... Wink...!
Anything more complicated gives me a headache!... Grin...!
Ta again!
Paul.... Grin...!

There are one or two gauges that shift the eye-point in the cockpit left and right, but this one will be useful for shifting the eye-point up and down!

Do you fly the C-150L from the French (/Manuel du Reims-Cessna 150)? Great plane, flys really well. I downloaded several textures for that model & then spent days making 2D panels to fit each paint scheme. Grin
Maybe I need a life  Undecided
