Well I've seen a few odd things flying over my house this week. Twice we've had the Good Year blimp and yesterday an AH-64D.
Makes a refreshing change from the usual bevvy of Cessnas etc from the local airfields...

Nice mix! Over my work I see a very large assortment of aircraft. Just today I saw 2 Mi-8s flying along the coast (In the U.S.). Get f-15s, 16's every day, the occasional A-10, KC-135, C-17, AC/MC-130's, and I missed seeing it (but heard it), the F-35.

About a year ago I saw the coolest of them all, the Mi-24... flew directly over my work!

My specs... A hard drive, motherboard, graphics card, some memory, a keyboard, mouse, and monitor - in other words, nothing special.

My apartment is typically lots of Cessna's (headquarters at the airport), some Learjet's (headquarters at the airport), and lots of MD-80s/B717's from the airliners.  There's also a steady flow of AT-6 Texan II's (Hawker Beechcraft flies them from their factory on the other side of town)

On the weird side of things, I saw an unpainted 737 last weekend, and there's some fighter jet that comes in and out that I only ever see the back of and have no idea what it is

My apartment is located along the final approach for 20L at KPDK.  I get the usual variety of business jets and private planes, but once or twice a year I see an occasional plane from the Confederate Air force.  Seeing their B-17 always  gets me excited.

I live 'bout 2 miles away from Jeffco, KBJC.  It's always interesting. This weekend there is a B-17 here selling rides. He comes over my house at about 800' AGL every 40 minutes or so. There is also a Forest Service base here that was really busy this last summer. It's proximity to Boulder & Denver makes it a busy executive airport and NOAA has a C-130 based here. Their website has a webcam

I live about a 1/2 mile from KRFD (a UPS hub and airlines that only fly to vacation destinations), so I usual see 757s, 767s, MD-80s, and 737s, along with the usual Cessnas and biz jets.  Additionally, once a year they have an air show, and around that time I see Harriers, F/A-18s, F-15Es, ect flying over head.

But the most interesting thing I saw fly over my house was about 100-or-so Pipers and Cessnas flying in V formation a couple of years ago – I never found out why.

Nah, lucky is the fact I live not far from where the only flying Mk.I Spitfire in the world is and I get to see that quite often in the summer along with a pair of local Yak-52s who do formation aerobatics Cool

I frequently see brand new C-130s as Lockheed is not too far from me. When I pick up my daughter from her Mom's they are frequently approaching Dobbins AFB and fly over the freeway we are on.  I've been lucky enough to spot a C-5 in the past but not recently. Smiley

I live and work near EGCC so I usually get to see the typical big airliners flying over the house. It's always fun to walk through the airport building and see whats on the tarmac on my way to work though. There's normally a good few biz jets around and I've seen a couple of AWACS and a C17 early one morning.

The rarest aircraft I've ever seen is Ed Force One parked up at a terminal which was cool!

I'd love to live near an air force base though!

Forgot to mention that I live and work by both Eglin AFB, and Hurlburt Field, which is home to AFSOC (Air Force Special Ops Command). So on a daily basis I see AC-130's, MC-130's, CV-22 Ospreys, and the U-28A (Pilatus PC-12).

Eglin is of course the new Home for the F-35, and to date there are 5 F-35s there. Eglin is also a very big test and evaluation base, soa great assortment of aircraft fly in and out. The Eglin range is where the Air Force tested the first MOAB!. Talk about a big boom!

We get a few Cessnas and Pipers flying low, but also a number of Lynx and Chinook helicopters from time to time. I really don't know why though... Who would want to visit where I live?  Roll Eyes
