Does anybody has this add on installed on a 737?
its a great add on,i got it installed on the a340 and 747 but i dont know how to get it to work in the 737.
How dont know what to put on the aircraft.cfg the part that says the [smokesystem]
heres a exemple for the b747:

E.g for the POSKY 747 v4:

[SMOKESYSTEM]
smoke.0 = -18.030,  -106.400,   -70.083333,   Opensky_revspray
smoke.1 = -18.030,  -76.300,   -40.916667,    Opensky_revspray
smoke.2 = -18.030,  -76.300,   40.916667,    Opensky_revspray
smoke.3 = -18.030,  -106.400,   70.083333,    Opensky_revspray

now i need the one for the 737,if someone knows let me know please. Smiley

You will have to play around with those numbers to get them to line up correctly for the 737_400.  it does not have 4 engines like the 747-400 has.

which POSKY did you get that had those effects on it?  Link would be nice.  I'll go download it, and fix it up for you, and then come back here and give you the entry to put in your 737

yes please. the link to the spray would be a great help.

if i am not mistaken, this is what the numbers mean:

think of a giant box around your aircraft. in the middle of that box is your plane.  at the dead center of the plane is an imaginary dot.  the CENTRAL DATUM POINT.

from said point are 3 axis' .... LEFT / RIGHT.   UP/DOWN.  FORWARD/REAR

Negative number = left.... positive = right,  Negative = Rear ... Positive = Forward,  Negative=DOWN .. Positive = UP

so in your 3 dimensional box... fx_spray_fx #1 for the left engine looking from the rear.... would be something like...

[SMOKESYSTEM]
smoke.0 = -18.030,  -106.400,   -70.083333,   Opensky_revspray
                  Left        REAR            DOWN

This is how you play with the numbers to get your Effects to show up properly (dont use those numbers cause those are for your 747 !!!!! )

Good overview, Prop.

There is unfortunately a bug feature in FS9 as there was in FS8 where the vertical location in the [smokesystem] entry is ignored by FS. So it doesn't matter what figure you put in the third location, it is ignored. You therefore have to change the vertical location of the effect in the .fx file itself by using the Y offset parameter.

Hi Garry.

That's certainly my experience, in both FS8 and FS9. I haven't yet looked at it in FSX in any detail (I've continued to use the FS9 philosophy of amending the Y offset in the fx file) but it may have been corrected there. M$ took the time to correct an anomaly with the [smokesystem] numbering in FSX. Up to FS9, the three location numbers in the smokesystem are not lateral/longitudinal/vertical as they are with the lights, fuel tanks, engine locations etc (and as indicated above), but vertical/longitudinal/lateral - in other words in the FS9 smokesystem, the first figure is the vertical component, not the third (my error above; I meant the first component in FS9, not the third). In FSX this has been corrected to be the same as the others mentioned.

It's been a while, but if memory serves, the bug you're referring to usually only happens when a position is predefined in the .fx file. If the coordinants in the .fx file are generic (i.e. all zeros) the standard placing coordinants in the aircraft.cfg usually work fine. Wink

That would account for why I've never had an issue becuse the only smoke system settings I've ever done were for my own projects

So it seems it does work but if a .fx file has any value other than zero it overrules the .cfg?

Again, it's been a while... but that's seemed to be the general rule.

Edit*
Nope, I was wrong. All this talk poked me to try it out with one of my fire effects. There is more to it than I remember. Having the same verticle translation issue.

Many thanks for this - very useful information. Unfortunately, a lot of my effects are multiple, so at least one usually has a positional element to it...

Good to know though.
