CoolHi flybots. FSX accel., Win7=64bit..is there a simple tutorial download that can walk me thru Texture download installations...my attempts are getting me tied up in knots with no success. Main stumbling block..I can't open Config files to make alterations????? widows does not want to recognise program used for 'config file'???

I have my FSX installed separately in the C drive away from programme files,  like this Drive C - Microsoft games- Flight simulator X as I understand you will find security issues if you install it in programme files.
I can open the CFG file with 2 clicks.

When you want to open a .cfg file for the first time, windows does not know what that file extention uses.  From the pop-up window, choose "notepad".  After that, whenever you open a 'cfg file, it will default to notepad.

To make edits to the .cfg, copy the .cfg to your desktop, make your edits and save, then copy of cut and paste it back into the aircraft's folder and over-write to old .cfg.

It's Notepad. Text editing software that comes bundled with all versions of Windows.

And don't forget to check the little box by the "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file".

Also, after you paste the copy to the desktop, change the name of the "aircraft.cfg' in the aircraft's folder (To something like "Original.cfg")so you have a back-up copy

Smiley Hi Boikat...happy to say texture files now loading and flowing successfully thanks to your notepad lead. I now have a good compliment of Qantas/Virgin commercial aircraft on line to fly as I Wish instead of all the default liveries. Once again...Thanks and enjoy flying.
