Mount St. Helens is an active stratovolcano located in Skamania County, Washington, in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. It is 96 miles (154 km) south of Seattle, Washington and 50 miles (80 km) northeast of Portland, Oregon. Mount St. Helens takes its English name from the British diplomat Lord St Helens, a friend of explorer George Vancouver who made a survey of the area in the late 18th century. The volcano is located in the Cascade Range and is part of the Cascade Volcanic Arc, a segment of the Pacific Ring of Fire that includes over 160 active volcanoes. This volcano is well known for its ash explosions and pyroclastic flows.

Mount St. Helens is most notorious for its catastrophic eruption on May 18, 1980, at 8:32 am PDT which was the deadliest and most economically destructive volcanic event in the history of the United States. Fifty-seven people were killed; 250 homes, 47 bridges, 15 miles (24 km) of railways, and 185 miles (298 km) of highway were destroyed. A massive debris avalanche triggered by an earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale, caused an eruption, reducing the elevation of the mountain's summit from 9,677 ft (2,950 m) to 8,365 ft (2,550 m) and replacing it with a 1 mile (1.6 km) wide horseshoe-shaped crater. The earthquake was caused by a sudden surge of magma from the Earth's mantle. The debris avalanche was up to 0.7 cubic miles (2.9 km3) in volume. The Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument was created to preserve the volcano and allow for its aftermath to be scientifically studied.

"Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth and danced the skies on laughter silvered wings. Sunward I've climbed and joined the tumbling mirth of sun split clouds.....and done a hundred things you have never dreamed of.....wheeled and soared and swung high in the sunlit silence. Hovering there, I've chased the shouting wind along and flung my eager craft through footless halls of air.

Up, up the long, delerious, burning blue I've topped the wind swept heights with easy grace where never Lark, nor even Eagle flew. While with silent lifting of mind I've trod the high untrespassed sanctity of space, put out my hand and touched the face of god"

Thanks Yancovitch.........as far as compatibility, kind of. I have both and if you put the Mega Scenery Earth scenery above PNW in your scenery directory you get photo real scenery with ORBX objects and airports Cool

Looks amazing! Smiley
I regularly fly (using Just Flight's Air Hauler) freight from O46 in N. California to KBFI.  The route takes me just west of Mt. St. Helens and as we all know, the standard FSX graphics could stand improvement.  I'm very impressed with your shots. Cool Grin

+1! Cool

I really like that 'new & improved' wake effect also!  Trying to figure out how to export it to the rest of my seaplanes.

Thanks guys Smiley

@U4EA......should be pretty easy to use with other aircraft, it will just take some experimenting with the uhh.....emission points?? I'm not sure what they're called...... Undecided

They determine the position of the effect relative to the aircraft Smiley

No. Contact points are positions used to determine where contact is made between the aircraft and the ground/water Smiley

@Yancovitch..........I have nearly completed the state. I'm only missing a couple of tiles.
Yeah, they're big files. I think all of WA state is something like 45 to 50 GB. I keep my scenery on an external HD though, so I don't the mind huge size Smiley
