Hi guys, this is one of my favorite edits of ’09 that I completely reedited earlier this year. The scene was created to depict the ingenuity of the German Luftwaffe towards the end of WW2 when their airbases came under constant attack from allied bombers. Using their network of Autobahns and other secondary roads as runways, the Luftwaffe dispersed many of their combat aircraft into adjacent forests to hide them from allied surveillance. These hasty field fortifications consisted of parking pads for the aircraft as well as a network of service roads to perform both maintenance and refueling. Inasmuch as I couldn’t find an appropriate photograph depicting one of these sites, it was necessary to construct a background. Over the years I have found this is often the case particularly when trying to recreate a historic event. To illustrate the process I’ve attached pics #1 and #2 which were the basic components to the composite BG shown in pic #3. After the new BG was blended, the aircraft, pilot napping on the wing, ground crew and AC shadow were added. Finally a tree shadow overlay was created to complete the allusion along with sun beams. Thank you for looking, your comments are appreciate………… Ziggy

Very cool! Reminds me of something you'd see on a History channel WWII show.

I have difficulty seeing due to the massive floppy pink appendage growing out of my forehead and flopping in front of my eyes!

Excellent work Tom.
If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.
