'The Dilemma...'

The USS Enterprise CVN65, on manoeuvres a few hundred miles out of Pearl Harbour enters a strange weather anomaliy and finds itself transported back to 6th December 1941.

Buzzed by two unsuspecting Kawanishi N1K1 Kyofu Floatplanes the Captain has the Dilemma of a lifetime....launch the Alert 5 aircraft and shoot down the intruders, and launch a full on attack on the Japanese Fleet possibly preventing the US entry into WWII and maybe even wiping itself from existence, or let history take its course......

...

I found the Kawanishi N1K1 Kyofu Floatplane here at SimV, and its a CFS2 aircraft i modified to work in fs9.
The USS Enterprise CVN65 i think i also found here, cant recall ive had it for a while!
The Sky is FsSkyworld.
I used FsRecorder both to place the aircraft and get the shot, modifying the .cfg to remove all the messages on screen!

Yes i stole the idea from a film Cool and yes the Kawanishi N1K1 Kyofu Floatplane didnt fly till sometime in 1942, but hey, artistic licence and what have you Grin

This contest theme posed some real problems for me as i just knew the beautiful water in FSX would outstrip anything that Fs9 can do, and although it may not be a factor i tried allsorts before settling on this!!!. I hope you enjoy Wink

Thanx for looking - and good luck all Wink

Wink yes i got it working in fs9 though not fully, just enough to fly it. I aliased the panel to a cessna and that was about it really. It has its own panel but i couldnt be botherd finiding all the gauges in CFS2 and whatnot!

Also I guess you could get some nice sounds for it somewhere! Beware though i had to use the old simviation site rather than the new as it just wouldnt download from there.....

Thanx for the comment's guys Smiley

very nice shot, and as already stated, very nice composition too!!

I havent seen or heard of the film, but the story reminds me a bit of the misterious 'philledelphia project' from that eara...

Not seen it? Its defo worth a watch, i got it off ebay for very few english pounds.

Its certainy no action-packed an-explosion-a-minute-type film but its one that makes you think. Kirk Douglas and Martin Sheen, all filmed on the real Nimitz.

No CGI, no silly duplicate aircraft shots, no doing mach 2 with your hair on fire. Its worth it just to see the ship and the aircraft tbh! Smiley

Thanx for the commets though  Wink

Well at least you figured out how to appropriately use a carrier in a seaplane shot.

Sure love the theme, having seen The Final Countdown + being a recovering Trekkie.
