Fine with FS2002 but not responding though set properly for FS2004 .  Will close with ctrl+shift+c , but not open with ctrl+shift+v .

Thanks ,
Jamie

There are two types of aeroplane, Spitfires and everything else that wishes it was a Spitfire!

Hi Ozzy ,

MAAM DC-3 , Convair 240 , Howard 500 .  Just tried it again and works fine in FS2002 so must not be my keyboard .  Cowl flaps close , but no response for opening . Never had this before so something has changed . Tried the panel switches for the Howard and works fine .
Thanks ,
Jamie

Check out the keys assignment in the setup of FS. It's probable that somehow the key combination for the closing of the cowl flaps have been deleted or reassigned. Eventually, assigne the combination to the correct event.

Hi Stratregic Retreat ,

That was the first thing I checked and re-set several times and just now checked it again .  Brought up the Howard and also the Convair 240 and the cowl flaps closed incrementally perfectly on both , but refused to respond at all to Ctrl+Shift+v .  I went back to FS2002 and those worked as they should .  Really weird !  Something has changed somewhere .
Thanks ,
Jamie

Do you, by any chance, have FSUIPC registered installed?

Hello Strategic Retreat ,

I have FSUIPC Version 3.991 unregistered .  Had no problem till suddenly so something in FS9 must be corrupted .  Hate to re-install so wish it would be something small that I could replace .
Thanks for attempting to figure out something .

Before reinstalling, was I in your shoes, I would try and understand WHY that key combo doesn't work. After all, something similar MAY happen again, and if every time you go reinstalling without getting at the core of the problem, you'll never really solve it. The question you should ask yourself is this: Have you installed maybe some other software, inside or outside FS, that interferes with that key combo?

Be it as it may, have a nice reinstallation, if you go for that route. Smiley

Hi again Strategic Retreat ,

The fact that the key commands work perfectly in FS2002 does pretty much narrow it down to FS9 in my mind ( weak as it is ! ) .  I wonder if there is a DLL specific for something like cowl flaps or is that a silly question ?  Not sure what a DLL does !!  I could go to system restore I suppose . I did just check the Howard again and the key command settings .  The props feather and unfeather nicely , but still no response for opening the cowl flaps .
I sent you a private message ,
Thanks again ,
Jamie
P.S.
I do have the option checked to be notified of replies , but have never received anything in my e-mails .

Answered to your PM.

The forum is quite slow, lately. Eventually, let's continue by mail.

I " think " I found the problem and must be related to FSRecorder .  I love that program , but uninstalled and reinstalled FS9 and found that the cowl flaps would not open with the recorder installed , but worked fine without it  .  May show up again , but this seems to be the conflict .
Thanks ,
Jamie

I just heard from FSRecorder .  If you have not experienced this fantastic recorder you are missing out .  I love some of the great wing views with HJG planes and wish they had virtual cabins as well .
Jamie

Hi Jamie, I guess the problem is that FS Recorder by default uses the Shift+Ctrl+V key shortcut for it's camera features. You can change/delete that shortcut in the FS Recorder keyboard controls dialog, that should solve the problem. Best regards,Matthias
