Awesome shots Pierre.....#3 Shocked Shocked Cool Cool

"Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth and danced the skies on laughter silvered wings. Sunward I've climbed and joined the tumbling mirth of sun split clouds.....and done a hundred things you have never dreamed of.....wheeled and soared and swung high in the sunlit silence. Hovering there, I've chased the shouting wind along and flung my eager craft through footless halls of air.

Up, up the long, delerious, burning blue I've topped the wind swept heights with easy grace where never Lark, nor even Eagle flew. While with silent lifting of mind I've trod the high untrespassed sanctity of space, put out my hand and touched the face of god"

Thank you guys!
Yes, #3 is my favorite as well. You are right, it doesn't have the lines of a Spitfire, but she was a technological prowess too. Fast, airborne radar, bullet shield to protect the pilot during the attack phase, pressurized cockpit, ejection seats... The Cadillac of night fighting... It was complicated to build though, and political bickering led to few numbers being built and put in service. Had they been built in numbers, who knows, maybe it could have put a serious dent in allied night bombing operations...

If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.

Wow that plane looks cool Cool Which one is it?

Most people think that flying a plane is dangerous, except pilots because they know how easy it is.
Arguing with a pilot is like wrestling with a pig in the mud, after a while you begin to think the pig likes it.

From what ive read the night fighter 'system' the Luftwaffe had in place was a little flawed in that the attacking fighter had to return to its radar 'station' after an intercept so the controller could re-identify it - no IFF i presume. However, they still accounted for some horrendous losses on the 1,000+ bomber streams of the RAF, did this aircraft have a way round this , or was a new system in development?

Nice shots however Smiley
