I can't believe the kind of weekend aviation has been having, another fatality
http://uk.news.yahoo.com/stuntman-dies-after-200ft-fall-at-airshow-.html
There are two types of aeroplane, Spitfires and everything else that wishes it was a Spitfire!

Very sad. I like to think that it couldn't happen over here. I know the
Crunchie Flying Circus, Utterly Butterly Barstormers, Team Guinot
, Breitling Barnstormers have done something involving dismounting the wing-walk mount into the cockpit for many years, but moving from one aerial vehicle to another - no...

I wonder why this last 2 weeks are so terrible. My apologies to the family
Most people think that flying a plane is dangerous, except pilots because they know how easy it is.
Arguing with a pilot is like wrestling with a pig in the mud, after a while you begin to think the pig likes it.

Because it's the middle of summer. This year isn't really that different to any other, except that we've had an exceptionally high profile air display crash, followed by a couple more caught on camera too in one weekend. Just to top it off a 737 crash - not abnormal by any standards seeing as there are just about more of them than anything else in the world - and it's very bad weekend
If you average it out, I suspect 2011 will be little different statistically to any other year.

I would imagine that it's a peak time for airshows. Statistically, if no planes fly, none can crash. If a lot are displaying then the odds of having multiple incidents does increase a lot.
It was an incredibly brave stunt... They say he was the best in the world, so the only thing to take away from it is the thought that he died doing the thing that made him famous.
Although the average may not be much different to any other year, these events have made a bit of a cluster. I can't help but feel as if the FAA/CAA and associated groups will bring in further measures to try and reduce the number of incidents that have occured. Inconspicuous parachutes on wing walkers, and a raised minimum flight level for displays, could have played a factor in the survivability of some of the recent accidents. Aviation is not exempt from the fact that we must all learn from what has gone before us, and to constantly work to improve safety and reduce accidents.

He was wing walking from a biplane to a helicopter. Take in the winds, the weight of a person walking on the far edge of a biplane wing and the downward forces caused by the helo wash. All kinds of things could happen. He was, however, an entertainer and I wish his family the best.RIP.
Flying with twins is a lot of fun..

And also natural disasters

Only one thing to add to this story, an accident (and there by a death) waiting to happen
Another example of, just because we can does not say we should.........

As davysims posted somewhere else we are more concerned about weather they should do it, Not if they should do it
.
But we shouldn't go around saying it's his fault. That was just bad luck.
