I think Irene sucked all the heat and humidity out of the Florida panhandle. Its feels wonderful outside! Even had a slight chill in the air this morning!

My specs... A hard drive, motherboard, graphics card, some memory, a keyboard, mouse, and monitor - in other words, nothing special.

Well, the storm spent the night scrubbing the area with gusty winds and relentless rain; my place is none the worse for wear, but when I took a walk this morning I saw a little minor wind damage here and there, and there's still some blocks east of here that are under a few feet of water.

A nice fresh wind out of the west, and tomorrow's going to be a lovely day.

Let's assume it blew over with a kind of anti climax?

I hear some people will be pulling out a lot of nails they wish they hadn't nailed in ...

.. still .. ignore warnings is what folk have done who now lie in graveyards around the world ... Better safe than sorry ...

Glad it didn't turn out as bad as it could have ..

Electricity just got back up for me. This was a fairly uneventful hurricane, just a couple of days without power and some power lines and trees down. It wasn't particularly powerful for a hurricane, but it was very sustained...20 hours of steady 55-75mph winds. There was definitely an upside to having no power for 2 days....no cellphones, no TV, no computers=an excellent chance for some family bonding time. Smiley

......

MY SPECS= 5' 11" Slightly less than healthy male, 160 lbs., Brown eyes........Oh...you were wondering about my computers specs.....

I used my inverters when the commercial power went out (I lost a lot of things when I lost my home a couple years ago but managed to keep some things in storage); commercial power was back on within four hours, anyway. It rained here but not nearly as much as west and north of me. There were gusts but the wind didn't hit the hardest until last night, although most of the weak branches had already been downed by the earlier gusts (as I told patchz, some branches knocked on the door but I didn't answer right soon).
Currently, the sun is shining bright and I'm preparing to wade out into the mud.

Cool

Most people think that flying a plane is dangerous, except pilots because they know how easy it is.
Arguing with a pilot is like wrestling with a pig in the mud, after a while you begin to think the pig likes it.

August 29, 2011:  from Yahoo news:

MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) — The full measure of Hurricane Irene's fury came into focus Monday as the death toll jumped to 38, New England towns battled epic floods and millions faced the dispiriting prospect of several days without electricity.

"Epic floods"?  What a bunch of wimps.  Call John Kewwy and Bawney Fwank for a bailout.

This was a non-event.  The worst thing that happened was a round of PGA Tour golf was rained out and I had to watch the second tier event.
